Question Hi, I recently broke a graphics card with a bad power supply. My processor and motherboard are quite expensive. Mainboard also broken?

Motherboard could be finde it wirken whyle the brocken psu was cpnnected maybe now Werk power Regulator or something ill test this witch a working psu it comes tuesday maybe nothing Else is fried and im lucky it might just be the gpu sinse this one was a gt210 pny and probably not as well build for autstanding bad power normalöy the worst komponenten wozld get fried first nö?

Until you test with known good components, you really won't know if something else was damaged. Have you changed the GPU yet?

Hello, I recently experienced a graphics card failure due to an inadequate power supply. My processor and motherboard are high-end, and I'm concerned about potential damage to the motherboard as well.
I'm wondering if the motherboard may have sustained any damage while the faulty power supply was connected. Perhaps the power regulator or another component could be affected. I plan to test this theory by connecting a functional power supply, which is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. Hopefully, nothing else has been damaged, and I might be fortunate enough that only the GPU, a PNY GT210, is affected. Since it's not a top-tier component, it may not be as resilient to power issues. Typically, the more critical components would be the first to fail under such circumstances, right?

here with chat gpt sorry my spelling is also really really bad with german and spanisch maybe cause i speak 3 languages??? 😉

So i ordered a gt 210 asus and a psu 550w ill test on wednsday and reply here

Honestly, anything can power a GT 210. It is very unlikely that the problem was a power supply with inadequate power. If the problem is a junk power supply, it's more likely to have killed the motherboard and CPU before a 30W GPU that is powered from the PCIE slot.

We could say more with a complete list of your *exact* parts.

But the cpu and motherboard arent fried i suppose, cause it worked withought the gpu in. And it tried to post -/ -/ white vga light and grenn light for post, with vga light always on.

After multiple attempts, approximately 5 to 7 tries, including 4 attempts without the GPU not inserted, the consistent outcome raises the question of whether the motherboard and CPU managed to endure due to superior current regulators. It seems plausible that the GPU, lacking robust protection mechanisms, may have succumbed to the power issues.
Moreover, I came across an article stating that with a faulty PSU, the motherboard would not even power on as a protective measure to prevent potential damage or if it was getting bad power in that case it powered on but with the power regulators preventing it from being fried. sorry chat gpt used bad grammar. and the regulators themself dont get fried that fast
