I have a Dell Dimension 4600. No longer using it and would like to give it away, but want to restore it back to factory settings. No restore disk with it.
Can anyone gve me any ideas?
Give the following procedure a spin
if it doesn't work then you have to obtain the Dell Recovery CD
Press the F8 key at startup
Choose "Repair Your Computer"
(see the phony progress bar)
Choose keyboard layout
Enter your user name and password (Admin is disabled if you've created a user)
Choose "Dell factory image restore"
Choose Next
Tick box to reformat and restore to factory condition.
PS: The Dell Dimension 4600 came with a recovery cd rather
than a partition. You will need to call Dell and
have them send you a recovery cd and then use that
disc to restore your computer to factory defaults
I have a Dell. It is really old. Old as in 2001-2003. I want to restore it back to factory settings. No restore disk with it. It has windows XP.
Do i follow Greenfields instructions above? or are they too specific to the more advanced model?
I went to the recommended site above ... http://support.dell.com/support/to [...] 0ABD62041A What is next step for an unknown model number for a DELL? Thanks! Can anyone gve me any ideas?
