Question How to fix Laptop Black Screen of Death right after CMOS battery replacement

I was working on repairing my Grandparent's 7 year old Toshiba Satellite laptop so that we could give it to my young cousin. I got the repairs finished when it came time to replace the CMOS battery as it was getting old. I removed the battery and put it back in after some time. I then attempted to boot the machine and the screen's backlight didn't even come on.

when you say that. did you remove it then replace it or remove it and put the same battery back in? also are you sure its the backlight.

I had origionally put the same battery back in. After attempting to fix the issue for a while, I eventually bought a new CMOS battery and put it in the old one's place. The backlight is likely fine.
