So, here's my current situation. I recently got a new PC and I'm using the HDD from my old PC (the HDD isn't that old, only a few months) which has my OS on it. I also got an SSD so that I could put Windows onto it for faster load times. Problem is, I have no idea how to get an OS onto my SSD without factory resetting or cloning my system. I realise that I could clone my system using an app like EaseUS, but I don't really want to spend the money to do that. I also realise that I could just factory reset, but I'd rather not install all my applications again. Is there any way I can get an OS onto my SSD without losing my apps?

Thanks.

Solution
  1. Cloning software is free. Macrium Reflect.
  2. Using the old OS install from your old system is not recommended. But, if it currently works, we'll give it a try.

How much space is consumed on your current HDD?
What size/make/model is the new SSD?
