Hi, all!

So, after 5(ish) years of upgrading my GPU my CPU is finally in need of some love. I know that means upgrading the motherboard as well at this point, and it's all very unfamiliar territory for me. I don't know what a solid motherboard is when it comes to playing games, or a solid CPU for that matter (although lately I have been looking at a i7-9700K). I don't even know how much to budget, but I would like for it to at least perform well for the next 5 years.

So, here are my questions:

  • Suggestions on what CPUs and Motherboards to consider for the upgrade?
  • Compatibility things to be aware of (do I need to be concerned about RAM compatibility, for instance)?
  • What should my budget be?

I plan on taking it in to a PC repair place to upgrade it as I'm not sure I have it in me to upgrade the Motherboard and CPU myself.

Here are my current specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super
Motherboard: ASUS z170AR
RAM: 2x 8gb Patriot Memory 2800 C16 Series DDR4
Storage: WDC 1TB HDD, SanDisk 112GB SSD, Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB M.2
Power Supply: Corsair CX 750

Thanks so much everyone!
