[citation][nom]amk-aka-Phantom[/nom]That makes no sense; since there're fields that EXPLICITLY ask for your full name! I think that this simply means that you shouldn't include your personal info in the contest text itself, but only in the designated field.[/citation]

Thanks:) much appreciated!

[citation][nom]xPandaPanda[/nom]The counter only goes up to 47 words and this is from the Terms: "The Content must be in the English Language."[/citation]

In the article by toms here, they stated "Furthermore, this contest will also accept entries in French, Spanish, German, and Italian (yes, the terms and conditions say English-only, but we've confirmed multilingual entries with Samsung). Please be sure to read the full terms and conditions on the entry form for the full details."

so its not only english.

[citation][nom]mikefxu[/nom]Pretend you are shopping, you have 100 items to pickup. You have to physically move to each item you wish to pickup. No matter how quick a shopper, picking up 100 items will still take a certain amount of time. The is essentially how a conventional hard drive works. It has to follow a physical path to pick up each piece of data. Now imagine if you had to pickup those same 100 items and instead of having to follow a physical path all you had to do was think of the next item and you were instantly in front of it. This would cut down your shopping time considerably. This is essentially how a solid state drive works. A conventional hard drive has to follow a physical path a solid state drive has direct access to each piece of data thereby increasing data collection and storage immensely.[/citation]

Really good explanation. I used one that compares a sports car/SSD to a minivan/HDD.

Easily...SSD to HDD is like sex with a HOT girl vs UGLY girl.

HOT Girl - You just want to !BANG*censor*BANG*censor* BANG! the crap out of the girl.
UGLY Girl - Junior just can't get up and shrivel up like taking a swim out in the frozen water.

Its a super fast drive for your computer that makes it run faster so you won't have to wait as long for it to turn on or for programs to open.

On another note, I don't think that non-techies even need to know what an SSD is. They already don't know what a hard drive is.

[citation][nom]MyNameIsBetty_KungPaoOHWOW[/nom]Easily......(lots of crap)...frozen water.[/citation]
Er...Tom's Hardware...is not a porn site.

SSD - the essential part of the modern OC required to store and quickly access your programs and data.

I think will be more successful a phrase like this:

SSD is a thing that let`s you play your Solitaire within 4 seconds from when you press the power on button !

[citation][nom]bear95[/nom]But how do they know what a magnetic drive is or does?[/citation]

A magnetic drive has moving parts and is slower than an SSD. =P

It's like your Samsung refrigerator. It's really quiet, power efficient, and cool. Your fridge has options to power cool and power freeze for short bursts. Well, the SSD is like that, on turbo all of the time, while still maintaining the quiet and power efficient. Imagine the extra storage capacity and ease if the fridge converted every item in it into cubes. The SSD does this in a sense with all of your data. When you want something from the fridge, you walk over and get it. The SSD is the same way. What you want is right there for you to grab, no waiting, no spinning, no moving things out of the way to get something in the back. It's just magically right there at your fingertips. Spider solitaire's never had it so good before.

You all trying too hard.

"Remember when you have to go through your purse reaching for bills in order to pay for that nice pair of shoes? That's your current hard disk drive.
What's a Samsung SSD 830 Series?
Just like shopping with a credit card, it takes seconds to get it done."

A hard drive, the thing that stores data on your computer, that has no moving parts and is alot faster than what you currently have. Also the same type of memory in your Camera.

Computers usually work like this: all the information is arranged around a dog, who runs to the information to retrieve it. An SSD is like having 100 dogs, each in charge of some information. Since the dogs don't have to run to get to things, it is faster and quieter.

[citation][nom]Pocketdrummer[/nom]No moving parts, faster performance, 1/10th the storage, 10x the cost.[/citation]

Rather...

No moving parts, faster performance, 1/5th the storage, 10x the cost.

 I've had a few people ask me what an SSD is...... since most people know what a flash drive is, i just give them the analogy of:

"it's like a flash drive except it's on an adrenaline rush and it stays on the inside of the computer."

Most people seam to understand it well enough that i dont have to give more detail.

An SSD performs several times faster than a traditional magnetic hard drive (which is found in nearly every standard computer) at the expense of capacity and cost (roughly 4x smaller and 4x more expensive). However, I would argue that the flooding in Asia has nearly muted the point about price.
