Question I can't connect my laptop to my monitor?

I recently bought a new laptop replacing my old 2009 Fujitsu one, I used to connect my laptop to my monitor through VGA cables and then a VGA (F) to DVI-I (M) so basically VGA to VGA to VGA (F) to DVI-I (M) Adapter since my monitor only has one DVI-I slot. So my new laptop only has an HDMI connection so I had to buy a HDMI to VGA cable and use my VGA (F) to DVI-I (M) Adapter, I tried it and nothing worked. I had the screws in and it was fine and not too tight but just the okay amount of tight. I tried Manually Detecting the display and that didn't work. Anybody know what's wrong and can help me? My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster P2370.

Think it'll be easier if you got a HDMI to DVI-I adapter keeping the signal as digital throughout.

As far as I can tell the current set up outputs a digital signal, which doesn't get converted to an analogue one and then... maybe kept analogue.

Something along those lines, though the one linked is Displayport to DVI, and requires a DVI cable to connect to the display.

My monitor has a DVI-I port so will DVI-D work on it?

Should be fine. There's no analogue signal to carry as you have HDMI output.

Bought a new cable, plugged into monitor, plugged into laptop, made sure it was screwed in properly and nothing, Windows does not detect any external monitor although the monitor seemed to know that there was something connected because it did not show any Check Signal Cable and below it Digital. I don't think the port is the problem, I think Windows 10 software is the problem, but if you think it's not here are some pics.

Check BIOS of your laptop. HDMI port might be disabled.

You have to hit <FN>+<F8> keys to toggle on an external display.

Thanks for the help but unfortunately I think it's a problem with my monitor itself, I tried connecting it to another display which belonged to my friend and it worked so I think it's the monitor's problem, I can't blame it, it is pretty old.

One last question, my monitor I think is being displayed using my Intel UHD 620 Integrated Graphics and my laptop has a dedicated GPU so would there be anyway to display my monitor using my dedicated GPU instead of the Intel UHD 620?

Often with laptops with another GPU it's only used when more graphically intensive tasks demand it.
