Hmmm... Bush and Paris Hilton, I can see the Hilton thing, but let's not make this political... might get flamed, but believe me I see where you're coming from.

It's a "guilty by association" thing.

I could add something about David Hicks but that would probably be in poor taste and would surely get me flamed, although in this thread getting flamed seems a given for anyone commenting on either Macs or PC's

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Like I said, my biggest complaint about Apple is the unholy DRM they have going on. If I could LEGALLY run OS X on my PC I'd be triple booting right now.

"and one more thing, apple has succesfully secceded from the Union, yes. Our new land shall be called iDAHO."

What about iSRAEL? iNDIANA? iNDIAN OCEAN?

Because Apple's marketing iS so iRRITATING, we must iDENTIFY these iDIOTIC, iDEALISTIC, iGNORANT iNFINDELS and iNFLICT damage to their iNSINUATIONS that iNFEST their iNFANTILE minds.

Apple are not iNFALLIBLE; their iPOD iS iNFERIOR and an iNFERNAL device; iT iS their iNFIRMITY. We must iNFLUENCE people to iNFORM others of iPOD's iNFERIORITY; this will surely iRK and iNFURIATE Apple and iNFLICT damage onto their iNSIPID device.

Our goal is to render the iPOD iRRELEVANT and iNSIGNIFICANT, but we musn't be iRRESPONSIBLE! iT may seem iNSANE, but remember; iNNOCENT iNDIVIDUALS of dubious iNTEGRITY have been iNSULTED by Apple, and we iNTEND to iTENSIFY our offense against them.

We will go iNVADE the Apple iNSTITUTE's iNTERIOR and iNSULT Steve Jobs iNTO iNSTRUCTING his goons iNTO an iNTENSIVE attack. This will iNTERFERE with his iNTELLIGIBLE rambling to his iNTRACTABLE disciples. We will need an iNTERPRETER when we iNTERROGATE Steve Jobs, because he will surely iNUNDATE us with another lacklustre product announcement. We presume he will then iMPLY that the iPOD iS iNCREDIBLE. Evil, iSN'T it?

We are sure we can succeed on iNTUITION, but we have an iNTRICATE plan as well. Our iNVASION will be iNVALID unless we iNVEST ourselves into iNEVITABLY iNVENTING a new age. Don't be iRRATIONAL, and don't iNVOKE iRONY!

This may seem iNVIDIOUS, but iT will iNVIGORATE iNTELLIGENCE iNTO iRRITATING iNDIVIDUALS.

We will not be iSOLATED. iNSTEAD, we will be iNVINCIBLE.

looks like some one had fun

I gave ya five stars just for the effort :)

Yay! Thank you

Now I'm waiting for the opposite; a flaming from a Mac-head

P.S. Don't be embarrased by the X1300; look at what I'm still running. THAT'S embarrasing! (Plays a mean game of UT2K3 though  )

My old biddie used to run Apples right from the very first 128K floppy Mac onwards, the problem with them is when you got a hardware error - say the printer stopped printing - you'd end up re-installing the OS just to get it to work, this may have changed with the UNIX OSX but my old biddie gave up, bailed out and switched to PCs when her PowerPC601 went bang; The other thing that bugs me (I do all her PC/Mac support!) is with every major OS release or CPU change your software back-catalogue was either crippled (in terms of performance) or made redundant through incompatibility – meaning a whole raft of software bugs and problems every release.

I can still run the majority of software on my PC I was running 20 years ago if I wish.

The original Macs were technically superior to PCs, proper 16 bit (internally 32bit) CPUs and flat access to the memory without silly kludges, as was the OS (not being just a crappy DOS shell until OS/2, er, sorry, windows NT) but they were hideously expensive and unreliable as you couldn't gain access to the OS internals to fix problems easily.

Modern Macs are starting to compare with PCs in terms of price, but then, they are simply PCs in a party dress, running a pretty version of UNIX - the PC won in the end coz the Mac IS a PC.

I don't hate Apple, their design is very elegant and sophisticated in some ways. Great looking stuff.

Their owners, however, are another matter. Almost all of them are smug, arrogant and condescending in their attitudes to anything that's not Mac based.

I use PC's because the propriatary software I use for stock and currency trading only runs on Windows. Most financial software is Windows based. And yes, I know I can buy a C2D Mac now that would run Windows, but it's easier to build and change things with a homebuilt PC. Besides, it's more fun.

I don't know if the C2D Macs are faster than the old ones, but Macs always seemed slow to me compared to a good PC. Plus, I hate Mac mice.

I'm also running 2 monitors and may get 2 more for a total of 4 for my trading. I have a lot of programs and multiple charts open at one time.
I think this would be much more expensive with a Mac.

I looked inside one of my cousins old Macs, and guess what, it had an ECS mobo, a cheap ATI graphics card and ordinary cheap RAM. But Apple sure charges a lot for its extra RAM and such.

I guess it depends on what you're using your system for. All my friends who are graphic design artists and musicians use Macs, but kprobably very few serious financial or stock traders do.

wow arent you observant

apple = marketing

smart people obviously dont buy macs as they can get a much better PC system for less and since MS vista is now visualy appealing like mac OS, they pretty much have nothing better to offer compared to a PC.

You don't see countries around the world using macs. Why not? Is mac not the better product?
In fact its not, it is greatly obsolete to the PC especialy in price. Apple = America, its a fad that Americans will pay for just like large cars and lots of gasoline.

Perhaps you misread or misunderstood my reply. I use a PC, always have.

I don't particularily like Apple computers or most of their users. They never shut up about their computers as if they were the holy grail of computers.

I'm running the following. I built it myself and am pretty proud of it considering my age (old) that I actually did it all by myself.

Asus A8N 5X
AMD X2 3800
2 gig Corsair XMS2048 3200
PNY Quadro NVS 440 PCIEX 16 (Can run 4 monitors from 1 slot)
WD Caviar SE16 2500KS
Samsung 16X DVD+R DVD
Sony IDE DVD-ROM
Samsung 1.44 3.5 floppy
Cooler Master RS 450 in a Cooler Master Centurion 5CAC-T05
Logitech X-230 32 Watts RMS 2.1 Speakers-OEM
2 AGM CW 19" wide screen monitors
MS XP Pro - NOD 32

And I'm connected to Charter Broadband @ 5000/500kbps (supposedly, usually around 4700/490)

Yes, Apple =marketing, they've very good and clever at it, although like what I said, smug, arrogant and condescending and self righteous bout their "superior" hardware and OS.

So, I agree with you. See how "observant" I am.

I'm glad we all came to a sad realization

Apple is just trendy and fashionable for the neo-socialist, neo-fascist techno incompetant lemming population that worships head fascist Steve Jobs. As for the OS it is little more than a Unix ripoff with a pretty, idiot proof GUI. No I don't hate/despise Apple... They play a vital role in the dumbing down of America and the world. lol

I do not "HATE" apple. However, i thinks its frusterating that no matter how many times they've been financially bailed out because nobody wants to buy their over-priced products, they still charge outrageous prices...

Now they've got these I'm a MAC and I'm a PC ads running. Who are they kidding... as funny as i think they are, nobodies gonna spend good money on an over-priced laptop.

I'll give them this much, they're new apple iPhone G3 was priced reasonably, but that's about it...

I would by a Mac Laptop, but i'm not gonna pay through the nose for it. Bottom Line.

I don't hate apple. But I'm a PC..... A heavily overclocked, stocked to the nuts, Crysis slapping PC.

E8400 clocked to 4 Ghz, Asus P5E3 deluxe MB, 4 Gigs DDR3 10666 ram, HD 4870 X2 (2 gigs of DDR5), T260 25.5 Samsung 1080P, Bose companion 5 speakers. too many hard drives to mention... Media center!!! over 4 TB anyways. The best part of my PC is my Antec P190 case with 5 big fans (1x200mm,2x140mm, 2x120mm) All fans have 3 speed controls.

Not one item mentioned above is available on the Mac site...with exception of the hard drives. But why do they ask $300 for a $125 drive?????

Apple offers inferior Ram and inferior video cards. I would like to have DDR3 please. Their Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 8 cores won't touch my dual core at 4GHz when it comes to games. Games hardly touch the advantages of dual core let alone 8 cores. Their video cards are worth $75 each. Not a good choice for anything. A $75 video card is what you put in your mother's computer when she wants to play frogger on her big screen. Why do they charge an extra $100 for an optical drive.... ouch, I hope you get kissed while you just got f'd

My PC plays Crysis on high @ 1680x1050 (my preferred setting) at 38-55FPS( average is 45FPS). It rarely dips below 40FPS and it looks fantastic on my 25.5 which is $400 less expensive than the 23"Mac monitor.

I also run dual boot with a stripped down version of Vista for games.

This is why I'm a PC.... BTW I don't hate Apple.

Zune is also better than Ipod. My 80gig $250 zune has a 3.2 inch screen

It will do everything an Ipod can do.... yes download music from Itunes is one of them.

Plus.....
Share music with other zune owners (within 30 meters)
fm tuner with tag and buy feature, like a song, tag it for purchase next time you hook up with your PC. wireless sync, the minute I walk in the door. Big screen for $100 less than an itouch. Works great with vista and media center.

I am a Zune, not an Ipod. I don't hate Apple. I won't buy an Apple product because I am informed. I also find their ads insulting. You can spend over $8000 on a Mac pro and it still won't slap Crysis like my PC does.

I am a PC, a non hating PC.

Ok 1) i Dont get y ppl are necroing this thread.....srysly, but on to debating 😛

anyways...Macs were NEVER meant to be a PC. The main use i see to a PC over a Mac is 1) Gaming which i use mine for, but in the world, gaming is not a priority of students and adults. Second, universal software support. Mac has restrictions due to its OS so many need specific programs only available on XP (but that can be alleviated with boot camp)

I have used a mac. My brother owned one (now has a HP laptop) and my sister has a macbook pro. Why? Well first they dont game. They are students and the features Macs have for students is superior than Windows. They listen to music, edit photos, and watch movies and in that regard with music and photos i like the Mac system better.

As for Ipods. I have one ive used other MP3 players. As a musician i hear a difference between the Ipod and other varients but between the Ipod and Zune there is almost none. Both are very good. Like my friend asked "why does everyone have Ipods, my little player is fine" and the answer is that its easy to use. You can choose specific songs if u want and the scroll wheel system and menus are easy for ppl to read.
As for Ipod vs Zune they are equal in my book

I have many hours logged on a Mac..... our boss is a Mac fan. Some of the machines at work have to run boot camp due to certain banking institutions not supporting Mac versions of their payroll software. What some people fail to realize is that when boot camp is being used...... you are using a PC. The hardware differences have never been worth mentioning.

As for music, photos, and watching movies, there are very few users that have logged equal hours using both systems. Usually whatever system someone starts with is what they tend to stick with. Most multimedia features that I enjoy on windows can also be done on the Mac.

I am an enthusiast who enjoys overclocking and building my own system. So Apple does not have much to offer me. They do make a good looking computer though and new users will find it easier to use compared to Vista. Vista is more geared to the experienced user.

I would like to see Apple sell their OS on the shelf. That would be interesting. Let PC users have a choice.
