I5 2500k vs i5 3570k (price out of the picture)

Hey,

At the moment amazon is selling the 2500k and 3570k at the same price, and I can't decide which one to get. I will be getting the sabertooth z77 and I really can't decide the best option. Everyone on the forum says the 2500k because of the price, but if the price is the same what should I choose. I wont be doing any crazing over clocking and probably end up keeping the retail heat sink.

If you're gonna overclock like crazy, 2500K. The 3570K does have better performance, but the 2500K overclocks higher than it - you'll get the same, if not better performance from an overclocked 2500K at like 5GHz compared to a 3570K at like 4.7GHz.
If you edit videos & want PCI-e 3.0, however, the 3570K is better because HD4000 graphics help lower render times, and it has a PCI-e 3.0 controller integrated, so it can utilize the slot - 2500K will take the 3.0 slot & run it at 2.0.

The 3570K is your better option given how you said you would use it.

I'll second the 3570k since you claimed you wont overclock. Ivy Bridge (3570k) is just a bit faster than Sandy Bridge (2500k) when at the same clock speeds.
