Question im having hardware issues and idk how to pinpoint them

So I'm having performance issues with my pc, frame drops, stutters, and more recently crashes( pc just freezes completely, I have to press reset button on case.) I used to have a 6600xt and i upgraded recently to 4070 super to fix the frame drop problem but it didn't fix it. I'm thinking of upgrading CPU to see maybe it’s a CPU issue. but idk what to do. Please just list things and I'll try them all.

GPU- 4070 super

CPU- ryzen 9 5900x

PSU- 850W

MB-MSI B550M Mag Tomohawk

RAM- 16x2(32GB corsair DDR4 3600 MHz)

HDD-1 TB external
SSD- 2TB M.2 samsung

Then it is software issue. Format your OS drive and make a new, clean Win installation.

And could you provide me a link on how to format the drive and do the widows install. Thank you for your comment. I have windows on my SSD, is that fine or should it be a thumb drive?

This link will show you how to create a windows installation on a usb using the cmd prompt. You then have to go into your bios and make the usb the first bootable drive, restart and follow the instructions.

you will want to use the Media Creation Tool provided by MS to make an installation package of the latest available build.

when going through the procedure the option to delete partitions and format the drive will be available.

you don't need all data or files backed up,
just your personal files and software preferences.

if you're using a backup software;
make sure to include ProgramData, Users, any locations you use to save personal files, and any personal game data(saves, settings, etc) folders.

you may also want to make a backup of the registry,
but that can be a complicated process just restoring specific program data and personal preferences.

or you could just get a cheap disk(external, etc) and make a backup of the entire drive there for storage.

this is one of the reasons why it is always the best idea to keep personal data stored in another location other than the main OS disk.
and to keep regular backups of this data stored in a 3rd location.

also best to keep games installed on a separate drive other than the OS so they do not need to be reinstalled in these situations.

if there really is nothing personal/important saved to this disk then just go ahead with the full wipe.

That’s actually what I was going to do. Bc I have 2 SSD’s one is 2TB which has everything on it then I have another SSD which is 150GB iirc. Do you know of the best way to install windows on the new SSD and get rid of the old one? Or is it a similar process listed above?
