So I'm having performance issues with my pc, frame drops, stutters, and more recently crashes( pc just freezes completely, I have to press reset button on case.) I used to have a 6600xt and i upgraded recently to 4070 super to fix the frame drop problem but it didn't fix it. I'm thinking of upgrading CPU to see maybe it’s a CPU issue. but idk what to do. Please just list things and I'll try them all.

PSU- 850W
PSU make and model (or part number) is? Also, how old the PSU is, and was the PSU bought new or used/refurbished?

Then it is software issue. Format your OS drive and make a new, clean Win installation.

So my power supply was bought new. I got it April 2023. Here’s the link. Segotep GM850 Power Supply 850W,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F1NFSG4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And could you provide me a link on how to format the drive and do the widows install. Thank you for your comment. I have windows on my SSD, is that fine or should it be a thumb drive?

don’t have enough space to make a backup for the clean windows install. So should I just risk it and have it just wipe everything?
you don't need all data or files backed up,
just your personal files and software preferences.

if you're using a backup software;
make sure to include ProgramData, Users, any locations you use to save personal files, and any personal game data(saves, settings, etc) folders.

you may also want to make a backup of the registry,
but that can be a complicated process just restoring specific program data and personal preferences.

or you could just get a cheap disk(external, etc) and make a backup of the entire drive there for storage.

this is one of the reasons why it is always the best idea to keep personal data stored in another location other than the main OS disk.
and to keep regular backups of this data stored in a 3rd location.

also best to keep games installed on a separate drive other than the OS so they do not need to be reinstalled in these situations.

if there really is nothing personal/important saved to this disk then just go ahead with the full wipe.

That’s actually what I was going to do. Bc I have 2 SSD’s one is 2TB which has everything on it then I have another SSD which is 150GB iirc. Do you know of the best way to install windows on the new SSD and get rid of the old one? Or is it a similar process listed above?

Holy hell... that is crap quality PSU. All Segotep PSUs are crap.

So, new PSU is a must.

This time around, do not cheap out on PSU and go for proper PSU instead.
Good PSUs to go for, are: Seasonic Focus/Vertex/PRIME, Corsair RMx/RMi/HXi/AXi, Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platinum/Titanium.
650W unit does fine. 750W unit doesn't hurt either.

(My 3x PCs are also powered by Seasonic. I have 2x PRIME TX-650 units and one Focus PX-550 unit. Full specs with pics in my sig.)

Follow that guide to the letter and you'll be good.

Just added the Corsair 750w one to my cart on Amazon. Will buy it when I get paid. And for installing windows. Should I just let it wipe my entire SSD or is that not a good idea?

Troubleshooting standpoint, it is best that you wipe the entire SSD, to get rid all possible software issues (including bloatware, malware). Downside of this is, that you'll loose all personal files you had on your OS drive (e.g pics, music). So, better to back them up beforehand (e.g copy/paste to 2nd drive).
