I consider myself pretty biased against intel, however, mistakes happen. These mistakes are few and far between, which makes them seem way worse when they do occur, because we aren't used to them. Hopefully intel will deal with this promptly and with the least amount of confusion possible, working with the customers and the mobo manufacturers.

Pacioli. Just return your product. Sucks to pay return shipping but better than gambling on the chipset. I placed my order for an i5-2500k gaming rig last night and canceled it this morning when reading the news on the flaw.

[citation][nom]veen[/nom]Wow this is a serious issue, all those people that bought into Intels promise of a good CPU will be disappointed, with all the money Intel is making, you would of tough that they would take the time to test there CPU , I guess we all know know where is Intel cutting the corners to make that extra profit, well at least we have AMD[/citation]
Wow, I'm no grammar/spelling/punctuation Nazi but seriously, no periods?
It looks like you ran a basic spell check since all words are spelled correctly but you used the wrong words in so many spots.

Quit worrying about computers and learn some basic writing skills so you don't need to depend on spell checkers.

Wow this is pretty big. This may tamp down a lot of the Sandy Bridge enthusiasm. I don't think this will hurt Intel badly in the long term, but in the short run Intel could take a huge hit.

What ever happened to Tom's. You must have known the chipsets were wonky before the recall???? Before you sold out you would have posted about it weeks ago. Now you just minimize this atrocious failure. So much for unbiased reporting.

jesus, and i just ordered Sandy Bridge last night. The goods news is I'm only running Sata 6, so shouldnt be anything to worry about :)

No one outside of Intel knew about this until today, so WTH are you talking about tom's not warning us? Sounds like someone's a fanboi.

Poor motherboard OEMs. I bet there's a lot of cussing happening right now! And the folks who bought the MBs. The RMA hassle! I hope this won't happen w/ LGA 2011. Thank God I did'nt build a 1155 rig immediately upon release. "Class Action Lawsuit" anyone?

I was disappointed with the way Intel handled their cross-compatibility (or rather the lack of it) through their last 3-4 platforms. When opting to go intel I felt like i was getting the short end of the stick despite how quick their processors were, forking $$ over for a negligible platform upgrade for things I frankly didn't need, want, or would ever use.

Needless to say I went AMD this time. first time since the amd64. My buddy, though, didn't. What does this mean for his mobo? RMA back and wait for a replacement?

What a hassle... I understand these things happen but when it's a chipset involved the problem becomes magnified, particularly when you can't exactly pop the CPU into another mobo and still have a viable PC.

I've always mixed it up when building rigs, buying intel and AMD, but recently I've been looking more and more towards AMD despite the fact that they're lagging behind tech/innovation wise. I just don't feel like I get screwed over when buying AMD.

What are you talking about????

Lawsuit for what? I didn't know anybody had bodily harm or died because of one "part" of a MB chipset was defective. Now if this was 2013 and they came out with "oh part of the P67 chipset is defective" - SURE then I can see something.

I wouldn't doubt the MB makers are rushing to be the "first" with the fixed chipset, so they can get it OUT to the public first to sell it first.

/sigh at common sense, or lack thereof.

I JUST BOUGHT A P67 BOARD ON THE 29th!!! (and built and installed)
(I'm assuming Intel alerted the OEMS so they could move stock)
I just know the i5 2500K was too good to be true... 🙁

Hopefully there is a proper recall; or should I just I/O the board until the SATA quits.

So that's why Gigabyte is still releasing x58 MBs! G1-Killer(G1 = Sandy Bridge = Great One/ Killer = Killing Sandy bridge). Gigabyte will sell many x58 MBs.
