Well, from the IDF's information, Intel didn't do any major re-work inside of Skylake. So, that VISC rumor is basically untrue; unless I missed something somewhere.
They have 6 and 8 core i 7s, just only on LGA2011 platform.
Not sure I see a purpose of bringing them to mainstream when the reality is they are not nearly as useful in that market.
Sure it won't help the average consumer, but you know stamping an extreme on the case with a sticker that says blast processing is bound to get some rich fool to buy it. Just the way of marketing.
I know what they currently offer, would have gone for the 5930k if I needed a CPU now ($500 if I pick it up at MicroCenter). But I'm not building a new rig for at least another year. Just keeping an eye on all of these parts so I have an idea when I finally have the money together.

The VISC rumor was pure nonsense not to mention Usman confounded VISC with SpMT and morphcore (despite being completely different technologies and even contradictories!!!!). What I wonder is why WCCFTECH rumors are still considered and mentioned, when they have a well-established record track of publishing nonsense.
I did in a way. I got an i5, and still have an i7 on order. I'm doing a video review of my "Silent Gaming PC" build, and now intend to include an i5\i7 comparison on some games and apps. I'll also see how high I can take the i5. I plan to sell the i5 once I get the i7. If it's a great overclocker, maybe I can get what I paid for it. If it's average, I'll sell it for probably $200.
Edit: According to B&H, expected availability is now Sep 10. It was Aug 31 a few days ago...

Well my 6600k is on its way, got tired of waiting. I primarily game so I don't really need the hyperthreading anyway. Guess I'll grab a Skylake refresh i7 later on if I do need hyperthreading at some point down the road.
Yea, the 6700k needs to get in stock so a bunch of people with too much money can buy them and put their 3770k's, up for cheap, on Ebay. 😛 I want a better CPU, for folding, in the winter.

You are doing it wrong if you want a winter heater. You need to get a Pentium 4 Extreme Edition or a FX9590. Those are the best heaters.
Good news everyone. Newegg, has taken the listing for the i7 6700k off their site and set it as out of stock. Which means two things. They got sick of everyone constantly badgering them about the release, or they're about to get a new shipment soon!

Turns out after getting of with new egg chat, they're only going to be supplying i7 6700k combo's so i'm boned. And anyone else who thought they'd be able to get a standalone chip from newegg. Great!

Wow, that's lame.
that's business. this way newegg can move some mobos as well. eager, early adopter customers won't mind getting a mobo/ram/barebones along with the "rare" cpu. i7 buyers tend to have moar budget allocated for pc, so it shouldn't be a problem in general.
