Currently I'm using a cheapy Colorsit ATX12V P4 600w PSU. The rail info goes like this

+3.3V +5V +12V -5V -12V +5VSB

28A 35A 30A 0.5A 0.8 2.5A

I'm using an XFX 8600 GTS XXX edition at the moment, and looking to upgrade to a Radeon HD 4890. Is this PSU sufficient, and if not, what do you suggest to buy to replace it ?

My other hardware is

C2Q 8200 @ 2.33ghz
1xDVDRW
1xSATA HD

I'm also in the UK

It should be sufficient, but I would replace it anyway since it's crap. A good quality 450W+ PSU would do, Corsair & Seasonic are good choices, make sure it has 2 PCIe connectors.

Theres enough power in that PSU to run the 4890. As mentioned, the question isn't power but how long those cheap parts inside the PSU can hold out. An 8600GTS isn't going to push it very hard, but the 4890 will. Being pushed that far creates heat, which can cause cheaper parts to fail. Run it if you want, but I would look into getting something else.
