Question Issues with H110M BIOS Update

Trying to do a bios update, unsure of what bios it is but here are all my parts: MSI H110M (7994), i3-6100, rx480 4gb, 8gb ddr4 hyper x fury, using a simple USB keyboard i got at argos and a ps/2 mouse. When I press "delete" after the msi gaming thing pops up the boot screen appears, the keyboard will have no input and the mouse will move to a certain point, it seems to reach about a third down the page before it stops working, it also stops working if i click into one of the tabs, have no idea what is going on all I want to do is a simple bios update but for some reason my computer hates me. fire away any suggestions as to why this isnt working really need help as I have an i7-7700 waiting to be put to use. cant figure out how to add images so here is the links: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0QPaHkfP-U-aGNoR2RwS1RyUnQzMW1oV1JUV1hDWUQzZXVz

BIOS is the small OS your motherboard runs in order to control and handle the initialization of the system. before windows can do anything, the motherboard has to start the cpu, ram, hdd, gpu and so on. then it finds out where windows is stored and starts loading that little bit and then finally hands off the start-up to windows itself once it is initialized.

obviously there are a lot more steps involved but this is the basic idea. BIOS handles everything until it hands off to windows.

as for updating the bios, i'd recommend you use the MSI Live Update app to handle it. go to this page

select your OS and then scroll until you see that program to download. this will not only update the BIOS but also all the other MSI drivers and such that go with the motherboard. while running the program, do not do anything else with the PC. flashing the BIOS wrong can make the motherboard useless and messing with the PC that is doing this while it is working is not a good idea.

so install and run the program, then sit back and watch it work with NOTHING ELSE RUNNING AT THE TIME!!

i have MSI boards in 2 systems in my house and i use the app myself for the same purpose

so much easier than flashing through a thumbdrive

so all i do is run the scan for drivers im missing then hit download and thats it?

so I ran it and it claims to be on the latest version "5.50" however I need it to be at least 5.7 for the new generation processor update

that's interesting. MSI has 5 versions after the 5.5 one.

so i take it you have the newest one from the site, the 7994v5b?

i assume this is what you were trying to do when you could not use the mouse to move around the BIOS?? or were you trying without the directions?

i assume this is what you were trying to do when you could not use the mouse to move around the BIOS?? or were you trying without the directions?

was trying to do the flash bios yeah followed all the directions but just cant get any inputs to work

ok so back where we started

what i found in the past was that for some reason BIOS may like or not like a ps/2 port. do you have a usb mouse you could try? or possibly one of those ps/2 to usb convertors that usually come with those mice?

as for the keyboard, try swapping the usb port it is plugged into. sometimes this makes it work all of a sudden. never found out why this works at times but it has for me in the past.

bit of playing with the ports can often get BIOS to see the mouse/keyboard when it would not before.
