Hi everyone,

I need some help with my custom-built PC. My CPU is overheating like crazy. Here are my specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E
  • RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4
  • Cooler: Corsair H100i Pro
  • PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3
Recently, the CPU temps have been hitting 90°C or even 100°C when I'm doing heavy tasks. This started out of nowhere, and I’m worried it might damage my PC.

Here's what I've tried so far:

  • Re-applied thermal paste
  • Made sure the CPU cooler is properly seated
  • Checked all fans are working and airflow is good
  • Updated BIOS and drivers
Even after all this, the problem is still there. Has anyone else had this issue or have any ideas on what I should do next?

Thanks a lot!

Asus boards do have known quality issues. Check fancontrol just to be sure it's not dodgy sensors. Then check if your board is on the recall list yet.

AIO coolers do not last forever.
In time, the pump fails or gets clogged with debris.
Or, air will intrude through the tubes and the unit needs to be replaced.
Think 5 years.

A thermalright peerless asassin @$40 would cool equally well as a replacement.
