I think I know the answer to this question but I'm going to ask it anyway. In another forum someone posted that you can still overclock a locked barton with out doing any physical mods to the chip. Suposedly all you need is the right mobo and a tweaked bios. I don't belive this is true as you are locked down at the chip level but I really don't want to open up my case and start messing up stuff (too damn lazy ;-) Anyone want to voice their opinion on this?

AMD ME??? Yeah they did me alright.

the MULTIPIER of the chip is locked, the FSB (Front-Side-Bus) is not. The Mhz of a chip is calculated as follows:

FSB * Multiplier = Mhz.

For Example a 3200+ (2.2Ghz) is:

200 * 11 = 2200Mhz

You can still increase the FSB via the BIOS menu. Read the O/C guide which is a sticky topic at the top.

My 2800+ XP chip, which is obvisuly locked, overclocks all the way to 2.6 ghz and is still stable. (2.08 ghz stock).

All you have to do is (as mentioned above), up your FSB, and your voltage.

Thanks Neddy. I don't care what they say about you, you're alright in my book.
