I can so see that

If you want to buy from a bakery without getting a shocked stare, you have to ask for sex buns, not six.

Ask a Melbournian lady to use 'seeks' and 'sex' in the same sentence... (you better know her well though...) As to the buns, just ask for 'alf a dozen' to avoid confusion. Of course, Kiwi's think that Aussies have accents, and neither country knows what to make of my accent. Yet I go back to visit family once in a while, and they all complain that 'I don't sound like I'm from around here anymore'. Go figure.

Had a buddy from Christchrch come visit (free bed and board) and when we visited a dairy he got a chups lolly. Stuck it in his mouth and said 'funny, doesn't taste like chups'.

im currently living in NZ, and the accent still confuses the hell out of me.

the pronounce every vowel as an 'i', except of course i, which the pronounce as 'u'.

pin, pen, pan, all the same word.

and they take the micky out of MY accent. kiwis...

Of course, human are always trying to deny the truth the best they can. Even if they are facing evidence of their wrong doing, some will try to spin everything their ways...

Like this story... let me give you an example...

If I was putting someone side by side with a pile of trashes and I was asking this person to turn his back from this pile of trashes... of course he will not the problem, but he will smell it.

Humanity got the strange ability to deny the undeniable... I can't believe americans are still buying this hoax of conspiracy...

Ok, let's admit this is a conspiracy made by scientists... what would be the actual goal of it... kidnapping cows in UFO planes to scare peoples? Right...

Redgarl, America is actually one of the greatest supporters of pollution control.

None of us are saying we shouldn't take care of our problems. What we are saying is we shouldn't buy into the politicized hoopla that's come about with "global warming".

Al Gore tells the world about Global Warming and then makes billions of dollars from it by running the company that sells these arbitrarily created "carbon credits".

And now we have actual evidence that the same scientists leading the charge for global warming are fudging facts to support their false data. That doesn't change that we need to control pollution but it does change the manner in which we go about doing it.

Before we worry about emissions perhaps we should look at all the household waste we dump in landfills, and that which is not going in landfills, which is doing far more undeniable damage than something that is still being researched. The difference is that the governments aren't going to make money off cleaning it up, so they are not publicising it as the end of the world.

The only people who benefit from waste are slum dwellers.

Latest news on global warming is that an EPA ruling says CO2 is harmful to humans.

CO2, not CO.

That gives them the right to fine you for breathing. Had this been OSHA there would be a "levels" regulation for acceptable work conditions, such as "at least 19% O2 in any high CO2 area"

But the worst part is, it's a lie. I mean, a serious lie. Saying CO2 is bad for humans because you can't rely on it for breathing is the only way to call it toxic, but then pure water is toxic, as well as Nitrogen gas which, by the wa, makes up most of our atmosphere.

So, if the EPA hands out fines for CO2 production, they must also figure out a way to remove Nitrogen from all the air of our atmosphere. After all, the two gases are equally dangerous, or equally non-threatening, to humans.

Its like my argument where they say cows are causing problems because of what they eat, what they fart etc, but before the cows were the buffalo.
I guess we shoulda just killed off all the buffalo and then become vegans

Hmm, I knew that tidal pools were important in many life-creation theories, but what does the lunar composition have to do with it? Unless there's a significant amount of lunar ejecta from meteorite impacts hitting earth, I don't get the connection...

If a cow farted in a tropical rainforest, would JDJ hear it?? 😀

From what I've read, some 3rd-world countries like Malaysia are the biggest polluters due to slash & burn of the forests to make room for crops. However a lot of industrialized countries, incl. the USA, have too many loopholes or lax standards for burning coal, low-sulphur or not.

But as for the original topic, I'd agree that I haven't seen a lot of convincing evidence tying global warming to human activity. According to a recent news story, if the Greenland ice sheet melts, the influx of cold fresh water would probably kill the Gulf Stream, plunging the northern hemisphere into a new ice age...

That has been a proposed theory for many a year and with the recent scary shrinking of the arctic ice in the summer, perhaps a sign that it is close than we think.

Of course, the economic effect would also be severe and no one quite knows how that would affect related things like fishing and whatnot.

Yes, that's a given. However the way JDJ mentioned it, I assumed there was something special about the Moon's composition. Toxic green cheze, maybe? 😀 The most commonly accepted theory of the Moon's formation is that a Mars-sized planetoid smacked into the infant Earth some 4.6B years ago, stripping a lot of the crustal layers off and sending them into orbit where the debris eventually coalesced into the Moon. If true, then the Moon is basically the same stuff as Detroit, or maybe Melbourne 😀.

Too bad there weren't any of JDJ's farting buffalo around then - they could have generated a methane atmosphere for the infant Moon...

According to Wiki mean sea levels would rise 21 ft., which would play havoc with downtown Miami, Rio, and a lot of other coastal cities. However Wiki also says a few centuries averaging 3 degrees C increase would be needed before the tipping point would be reached.

If you have any coastal waterfront, might be a good time to sell, and then buy a ton of properties a mile inland 😀.

Ho Ho HO... Viper, you are making me smile by your ignorance... 😛

Anti-pollution programs? Like this thing for recycling computers and electronic devices... right?

Here is an investigation made by radio-canada, or CBC french television if you prefer. Your computers are going to Africa, China and other countries that are poor and... well, I am disgusted by humanity... check the clip, it clearly state that most of the stuff is coming from the US.

It's in french, but USA don't have this quality of research in their broadcast.

Check at 4 minutes 30 seconds... This computer is from... Philadelphia district school, Bingo!

8 minutes 30 seconds, where is this HDD from... Northrop Grumman... US army business ally? And USA are making a lot about ecological matters?... think twice pal...

You have been blinded by a screen of smoke, sorry but you need to accept the truth that humanity sucks. Even Obama acknowledged that evil exist... in our destructive nature toward peoples and nature.

Actually its both about mass as well as composition, since they believe the moon is part of the earth, and pushed out of earths early dev, when it was still molten, but a solid? meteor slamming into earth, displacing a huge chunk we today call the moon, plus all debris while all thise was going on, creating the right sive of both the earth and the moon, the proper distance, mass etc etc all within the proper age of the sun, as well as the outer planets, and their effects, as well as the inner planets and their effects.

Were just reallly really lucky, since it could have been all ice, or in other material , and that would have ended, or never allowed for life anyways.

If there were other life out there, Id think theyd be sending out signals, so seti could find them, because if they were highly advanced, theyd still send any signal thats retrievable

Im hoping greenland does melt, so we can find more viking settlement.
And for the theory of the cold water effecting the atlantic flow, the original theory was a huge.massive, gigantic amount of water being released all at once, thus changing the temps of the atlantic and stallijng its flow.
Like I said, its a theory, tho can be explained in other ways.
So, no stalling going to happen this time, much like before the mini ice age were just now leaving, just maybe to be able to call greenland again for its namesake
