Hey guys, I'm building a new system, and I'm at a road block as far as my understanding of memory.

I'm looking at purchasing an ASUS P5B Deluxe LGA 775 Intel P965 Express, and putting an E6600 in it. Now for the memory...I was looking at getting two sticks of Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400 (TWIN2X20486400). The question I have though, is about a note I saw in the motherboard specification:

Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets

Ok, so the timings on the memory are fine, but the description for the memory on the site I'm going to buy from says it operates at 1.9V. Does the 1.9V mean it won't work with the board, or that it might flake out on me, or etc? The Corsair Buyers Guide I found on the Corsair site lists this memory as an option for this platform, but the voltages aren't listed in it...

I'm out of my league here, any infomation/advice you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. :D

That memory will work great in that board. ASUS has OCing options in the bios that allow you to increase the memory voltage. If it is not stable at 1.9v, raise it to 2.0v or 2.1v. 2.1v is the max voltage under the warranty.

Ok, just trying to see if I understand your comments...the extra .1V doesn't pose a problem (in relation to the mobo specification note), and in fact, higher voltages than what are recommended aren't a bad thing?

The extra voltage is necessary to run memory faster than the original IC specification. So, no it is not an issue. We have tested our memory and guarantee it to run stable and at its rated timings and speeds at 2.1v.

Read your quote again:
Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets
You are listing an ASUS board, not an Intel board.

should be fine i am run the pbb delux wi fi cant rember the bioe cersion but i am runing 1:1 ratio at 435 FSB X8 and my corsair 6400 C4 is runing great OC at 2.15 V just had to bump it up that .05 volt to edge it up ther.
