Is B760 (DDR-5)good choice for i5 14600K, not looking for Z790 series. I will not be overclocking my CPU as well. Also i will be using for productivity rather than gaming. Someone told me b760 wont be compatible for i5 14600k since it's an unlocked processor and requires more power.

Whoever told you that is wrong. B760 is definitely compatible. Chipset has 0 to do with the power delivery. That is up to the manufacturer with regards to how they configure power delivery. Looking at pricing, a 14600k is a terrible choice. Either save $50 and get a 13600k, or spend about $25 more and get a 13700k. Personally, I would take the 13700k. You could pair it up with this Z690 board. The pricing for a decent B760 isn't really any better.

Motherboard: ASRock Z690 STEEL LEGEND/D5 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($150.98 @ Newegg)
Total: $480.97
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Yes it will, as 700 series chipset was made for 13th gen, but for the price it isn't really worth getting a B760. For instance the B760 Pro RS is only $1 less, and is an inferior board, where as something like a Gigabyte B760 Elite AX costs more. The only plus of the gigabyte is wifi. Otherwise it has less expansion slots, and storage slots/ports than the Z690 board. There is more to a Z series board than just overclocking.

The problem with B760 motherboards is you have to look really carefully at their specs. They are budget boards and some of them are really budget.

On the other hand, z790 motherboards are overpriced. But they have all the features.
A good compromise is z690 motherboards because they are not the latest and not so overpriced.

It's not about overclocking, it's about quality. Most z motherboards are high quality, and most B760 are not.

Where do you live (for online stores) and what is your budget for a motherboard? I would look at spending $150-200, no more.

14600K is not going to be a good match for a 16k motherboard. I suggest buying a 13400 instead, or a 13500 and a more expensive motherboard.

Also, why not choose DDR4 RAM instead of more expensive DDR5? DDR4 is still very good RAM.

This would be the best motherboard for a 13600K / DDR4 PC - https://www.flipkart.com/asrock-z690-steel-legend-wifi-6e-motherboard/p/itm84eb696c85a25

Best choice for 13600K / DDR5 - https://www.flipkart.com/gigabyte-b760m-aorus-elite-ax-motherboard/p/itm197333840e3f3

For 13400 or 13500 / DDR5 - https://www.flipkart.com/gigabyte-b760m-ds3h-ddr5-motherboard/p/itm5927f6f57a68a

13400 or 13500 / DDR4 - https://www.flipkart.com/gigabyte-b760m-d2h-ddr4-motherboard/p/itm9a574047c7240

The above assumes these processors are available, but looking at flipkart, i've not been able to find any 13400 or 13500 CPUs.
In fact the best deal is for the 13600K: https://www.flipkart.com/intel-i5-1...-6-cores-desktop-processor/p/itm14dc08749bcce
This is the CPU i recommend. It's performance will be limited by the motherboard but that is ok. It's not going to damage the CPU, it will just mean it will not be able to perform much better than a 13400.

The price is what decides these things. The 13600K is the best CPU you can buy.
If it's possible, stretch your budget to the Aorus Elite motherboard or Steel Legend. But if not, buy the B760M DS3H DDR5 motherboard.
I have the DDR4 version of that motherboard and it's not good enough for an unlocked 13600K, so i hope you can afford the Aorus Elite somehow.

Cooler for the 13600K: https://www.flipkart.com/deepcool-ak400-wh-120mm-fan-4-pin-pwm-cooler/p/itmaff7af84de7d1
(13400 and 13500 come with a stock cooler, K models do not)

Hey! Thanks for the suggestions but I'm building a PC for photo editing which includes working with raw files of 45MP and more, so I need a processor that is good for Photoshop and Lightroom specifically one with a good single-core score as Photoshop uses single core, also I bought some parts like RTX 3060 12GB, Samsung 980 PRO, and a cooler master 620s dual tower cooler. I'm confused between 14600k and 13700k as well as the motherboards.
DDR5 does provide a slight gain in performance so i choose ddr5 and will be future-proof as well.

In that case i suggest either the B760M Aorus Elite AX DDR5 - https://www.flipkart.com/gigabyte-b760m-aorus-elite-ax-motherboard/p/itm197333840e3f3
or the cheaper B760M DS3H DDR5 - https://www.flipkart.com/gigabyte-b760m-ds3h-ddr5-motherboard/p/itm5927f6f57a68a

The Aorus is much much better.

I can try to help with the confusion between 14600K and 13700K.

Intel 13th generation processors are the 13400, 13500, 13600, 13700, etc.
The 14th generation processors are 14400, 14500, 14600, etc. etc.
You can see the pattern. The first two numbers tell you which generation processor you're looking at, and the other numbers show it's level of performance. Higher number, higher performance but also higher power requirements! This is why cheap motherboards are no good for powerfull processors.

In the US, the 13700K is only $25 more expensive than the 14600K, and it's more powerfull. However Indian prices are different.
The most cost effective processor that i can see is the 13600K. It is an excellent processor. For your work, a 13400 or 13500 would also be good. Normally they are cheaper but outside the US they are more rare. In Europe for example, the 13600K is more common and often cheaper.

So the best choice is the 13600K.

As for performance, the 14600K, is only very slightly more powerfull than a 13600K. It's not worth paying extra for the 14600K.

The letters K mean the processors is unlocked for overclocking, and that it doesn't come with a cooler. You don't have to overclock it. It will perform more or less the same as the non-K version of the same type.
There is little difference between the 13600 and the 13600K. In practise, the 13600K is more common and usually cheaper (although you have to also add the price of a cooler).

The letter F means the processor does not have any integrated graphics, which means you cannot use it without a GPU.
This variant is cheaper but it's not worth losing the integrated graphics. GPUs can fail or have problems. Or they are not detected properly in BIOS.
For this reason i have not suggested any F processors. GPU problems are common and not having any display is not worth saving a little bit of money buying a F processor.

To summarize, the 13600K sells for the best price and offers the most performance for the money.

The 13700K costs more, and even though it is more powerfull it really needs a more expensive motherboard. And it's not that much faster. Both will be good for Photoshop. The 13700K would be slightly faster, but the extra cost is very high.
