I'm mining crypto.

the board is ga 970a ds3. has a fx 8350.
I used 2 of those pcie x1 to 4 USB cards to connect 6 GPUs to this motherboard (working fine).
When I added a 7th gpu, the board refuses to boot. no post beep, no video, nothing.

The board does not post after I unplugged the storage, all I/O usb peripherals and all but 1 gpu for video out (no igpu)

I swapped the fx 8350 to a fx 4100 and still no post.

I removed the CMOS battery to clear it and still no post.

Can adding a 7th gpu break a motherboard? Does that happen?

Plz help!

Thanks

What slot did you add the 7th gpu to?

so theres 5 slots on the motherboard.

1st - pcie x 1
2nd pcie x 16
3rd/4th pcie x 1
5th pcie x 16 (x8)

I plugged the 1st "pciex1 to 4 usb" adapter into the 2nd slot (pcie x16)
all 4 of the usb were used.

I plugged the 2nd "pciex1 to 4usb" adapter into the 4th pciex1 slot (the other slots won't work with this pcie to usb adapter. by "not work" i mean the pc will not recognize any more gpus connected to my 2nd "pciex1 to 4 usb" adapter.

I added my 7th gpu onto the 2nd "pciex1 to 4 usb" adapter's 3rd slot

Hope this helps

thanks
