Does anyone know how to configure the task bar in XP to
permit more than one row of open applications?

Thank you.

Hi Mark,

First, ensure that "Group similar Taskbar buttons" is unchecked under the
Taskbar tab in Taskbar and Start Menu Properties. Next, drag the Taskbar
upwards so its height will permit more than one row of open applications.

Thanks for responding, Patti.

The task bar on my screen only allows me to expand the top
half of the task bar, the portion on which the quick
launch programs are located. When I drag the task bar up,
only the quick launch area gets larger. Any other
suggestions? I liked the suggestion Bill made and am
trying the side of the screen as an alternative.

Patti gave you the answer you were looking for I believe.

What I find to be a better solution though is to simply drag the task bar
over to the left edge of the screen rather than the bottom. This allows
perhaps 30 tasks to list down the edge of the screen rather than the few that
normally fit across the bottom. (Task blocks are smaller vertically than
horizontally) It also allows my normal open windows to expand all the way to
the bottom of the screen without obscuring the task bar.

Good luck...

Have you tried dragging the Quicklaunch toolbar to the lower right end of
the taskbar? You may need to be careful to start dragging on the toolbar's
background instead of one of the icons.
