He has an HP Pavilion P6226f with a Pegatron M2N78-LA motherboard which failed about a week ago. I bought an ASRock N68C-GS FX to replace it, but i would like to know if all the connectors would plug into the motherboard with-
out having to modify them?

PSU connectors, CPU and RAM should fit in... the only difference is the Pegatron mobo has three PCIe x 1 slots while the ASRock only has one PCIe X 1 slot but it may only be an issue if you use more than 1 PCIe X 1 card... everything else is perfectly compatible.

Pegatron mobo Expansion slots:
1 PCI Express x16 slot
3 PCI Express x 1 slots

ASRock mobo Expansion Slots:
1 x PCI Express x16 slot
1 x PCI Express x1 slot
2 x PCI slots

The DDR2 RAM sticks from the Pegatron mobo should go in the ASRock's blue sockets

Not to worry; the Athlon II X 2 processor is AM3.. AM2 Athlons are named Athlon 64, Athlon X 2, Athlon 64 X 2. The HP Pavilion P6226F Processor which is an Athlon II X 2 215 is included in the ASRocks CPU Support List and it's described as an AM3 processor as well as in the HP Product Specification page... so it's not a AM2... only the Pegatron mobo is AM2

Thank you. I have the board in my brother's machine now, and the only thing i had to do is swap the power LED's +, and - wires around, same with the HD's LED wires, other than that, it runs great. CPU fan runs at full speed, other than that, runs great, and seems to run faster than his old board.

Congrats... it should run faster with the same processor since the technology is more advanced, and it should run a whole lot faster when you upgrade the processor also... this motherboard can support up to the fastest AMD AM3+ FX pocessors.

EDIT: The fan speed can be managed in the BIOS.. read the PDF Manual on page 50 "CPU Quiet Fan". It also has several features to improve performance.. read the manual on page 41 for complete information. The Front Panel connections (which I completely ignored before) are always what you have to sort out, but with the right information usually found in the mobo manual they can easily be reconfigured in the Front Panel connector or the mobo header.

I find Asrock fan speed is definitely temperamental. Set the fan speed in the BIOS to either "Low" or level 6-7 depending on which it has available and set the CPU target temperature around 50c.

It will still be a bit odd but I find it works ok.
