Hi folks,

I am looking to upgrade my system, and I going back and forth between simply upgrading the GPU or rebuilding the entire system .

Current Specs:
CPU: i7 4770k
CPU Cooler: AIO liquid cooled
GPU: 2x GTX 770 sli
Mobo: Asus Z87 Pro
Ram: 2x8GB (16GB) G.Skill RipJaws @ 1600
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower Grand TPG-850M 850W
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro

Possible new build:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3900X
CPU Cooler: AIO liquid cooled, probably the white Corsair H100i (might keep old one)
GPU: GTX 2080ti
Mobo: Asus PRIME X570-P ATX
Ram: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4@3200
PSU: Will probably use same one, or go with white corsair 750W, for theme and iCUE
SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB, for good measure

My question is, if I choose just to upgrade just the GPU, I mostly use the comp for gaming, more immersive gaming than competitive, what would be the best GPU I would want to throw into the current build before the CPU or RAM starts bottlenecking it? I tried a 1660ti and it was buttery smooth on Metro Last Light and The Surge (which isnt the most gpu intensive, but still). 1660 ti was returned, and yet to make a decision.

On the other side of things, if there is a huge lack in performance with the current build, I am thinking I may just over haul it. Money isn't that tight yet, but if I can get away with saving $2-3k+ that'd be nice.

Gotcha, ya, that was a bit up for debate as well. My thought is that if I'll probably go with a 1440p G-Sync monitor regardless (suggestions welcome, looking at the Asus TUF Gaming VG27BQ 27.0" 2560x1440 165 Hz Monitor) and I can downscale as needed if I don't do a full upgrade. I will commit to 1440p for everything eventually, but thinking if I can through in a good enough GPU for now, I'll just run what I can at max @ 1440p, otherwise 1080p.
