Hey guys,

I have ordered some Mushkin 2x2GB DDR2-800 RAM package, and it is only today that I have found out
that my chipset's maximum memory is 4GB.

INTEL i945P

http://compare.intel.com/pcc/showchart.aspx?mmID=8764&familyID=10

I already have 2GB and what I planed is to add 2x2, which makes 6GB in total.

Is a 6GB going to affect my chipset ? positively or negatively ?
If it doesn't really affect my chipset, is there a difference between using a 4GB and a 6Gb ram ?

Thank you so much in advance !

P.s: Auxiliary question : Does my chipset work with an Intel Core 2 Duo ?

*added info. My board is an ASUS Emery 2 and my OS is Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

First off what OS are you running? If it's not a 64 bit OS, even if you only ran with 4Gig, your OS will only show just a little over 3Gigs.

There were some boards using the 945 chipset that were compatible with C2D, but it really depends on what board you have. If it's an early 945 board the answer is no since Intel changed their VRM requirements for C2D. So the short answer is depends on what board you have. If the board you have supports C2D you might also need to update the BIOS to get it to recognize the CPU.
