I've had performance problems since I upgraded to the 2070 super. It seems to work fine in some situations, like when running benchmarks like Userbenchmark or Heaven benchmark.
But it just doesn't feel smooth in certain games, a lot of stutters and sometimes even gets really low fps when I have the settings on the lowest.
Also the gpu has a coil whine that gets worse when the performance is also getting worse. It even has different tones to it.

I've already tried:
- Upgrading my PSU, higher wattage and rating (came from a silver 550 watt)
- DDU to uninstall all drivers
- Undervolting the GPU
- Installing latest drivers
- Updating Bios
- Swapping custom cables with normal PSU cables
- Looking at temps, system never goes higher than 80 °C

My full pc spec list is right here:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pVnRVF
My Userbenchmark results are here:
https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/69406993

I am thinking about upgrading/buying a new gpu to see if it fixes the problems I am having. Still deciding what is smart to do, but I really hope I can fix the 2070 Super I am using right now, as the GPU options that are available now are a bit sad to be honest. Thinking about the 4060 and the rx 6700 (xt). Maybe it is smart to buy it from Amazon so I can return it if it doesn't work.

Any help or tips would be appreciated, thanks!!

Updating Bios
What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

Also the gpu has a coil whine that gets worse when the performance is also getting worse. It even has different tones to it.
You could try and drop in another GPU(sourced from a friend or neighbor) and see if the issue persists and if it indeed is your RTX2070 Super, it's on it's way out.

But it just doesn't feel smooth in certain games, a lot of stutters and sometimes even gets really low fps when I have the settings on the lowest.
(Without an etc in the sentence)What titles have you taxed the system with?

How old is the Seasonic unit listed in your PCPP listing?

Looking at temps, system never goes higher than 80 °C
You should take that front panel of the case and see if your temps drop.

Thanks a lot for your response, to answer your questions:
  • My Bios version is E7B86AMS.HK0 (Build date 10/20/2023)
  • I really don't have another GPU to test with, I could use my dad's 2060 super, but I don't he would be too happy with that hahahah, but if that's the last option I would have, then sure why not.
  • The titles I've played are Warthunder, Hell let loose, Squad, Rust, PUBG, Satisfactory. All have the same type of stuttery feeling, I even feel like my 1050 ti felt smoother.
  • The PSU is about 3 or 4 years old, but before that I had a 550 silver rated PSU, but no difference in performance whatsover after the upgrade.
  • I don't really think the temperatures are the problem, I've ran it with the case open, then it drops to 75 °C max. I have 3 120 mm corsair fans and a 140mm cpu cooler, that pushes out a lot of air. PC also doesn't feel to hot by hand.
Thanks a lot for the response, I hope you can help me further.

I think this is the QVL list: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-GAMING-PLUS-MAX/support#mem
I don't see it, but it is also a very short list, does that really matter that much?
And how do you see it isn't operating at XMP?
Dims are in the correct slots, just checked
Thanks in advance!
And Update, the sticks I have are 3600 MT/s, and in my bios and during the tests I used 3000 MT/s, So that's probably why it doesn't seem right in the Userbenchmark test.

I've updated it in the pc part picker list.

Yes I have, usages do go high but almost never full 100%.
And frametimes? Asking because the games you've mentioned are mostly cpu demanding and r5 3600 sadly is not a good option for those titles. What are your graphics quality settings and resolution ?

(Forgot to mention, higher frametimes is mostly the main reason behind that choppy feeling)

Okay, I just tested my pc next to my MSI Katana GF66 11UD laptop. Both on medium settings, with fxaa anti aliasing. I get around 100 fps on the Katana and 160 fps with my pc. On my pc the CPU usage was around 40-50%, GPU usage around 80-95% and RAM usage about 62%. Even though the laptop had lower fps and even switched between the gpu and the intergrated graphics it almost felt smoother, I just can't lay my hands on it what makes it feel smoother. Maybe I could try to put my ram on 3600 MT/s??

I see I looked wrong at the QVL list and now see that my ram is supported, but only to 3000/3200 MT/s?? I am going to try to run memtest86+, thanks for the advice.

1. adjust your fan curve 2000 series gpus are a pain in the rear and dont get up to proper fan speed and cause stutter thats my experiance from the 2060 super.

adjust a fan curve using msi afterburner

i had a fan curve set at 25c at 30 fan speed 55 c at 65 fan speed and 70 at 100 fan speed.

having the fan at 30 percent all the time normally solved gpu getting overly hot.

a few things to try to combat it.

1 turn off

Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling

found under system. graphics.

also ive owned the cpu cooler and while its a nice cooler it .

also if your running games of the mechanical harddrive your limiting the game by quite a bit

HDD speeds tend to run up to around 140 MB/s, whereas SSD speeds can hit up to 540 MB/s.

because of the speed of the harddrive it can make texture popping more noticeable at higher textures.

something you wouldnt see on the 1050 ti because i imagine your using higher settings now

higher settings equals better textures makes for more mb

storage> system memory> cpu back to system memory> to gpu

fans in the top set to exaust air out the case apart from the one closest to the fans at the front that should be set to intake.

Sorry, but I don't get everything that you are saying, but I'll try my best with what I do understand;
  • Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling is already off
  • Most of my games are on my NVME drive
  • Temperatures don't really seem the problem, they are not that high and most of the time the GPU just sits at 40% even though my fps is not even near the max. It's almost like it just doesn't want to do his best or something.
  • I lowkey run low settings, because other wise my gpu just doesn't want to spit out frames.
  • I have 2 fans in the front as intakes and both my cpu cooler and rear fan as exhaust.

is there a heatsink on the nvme ? and of course its sitting at 40 percent lowering the settings will put more work on cpu.

if your cpu is 100 percent max out then it will cripple the system.
