So I built a new system, got everything installed and installed a fresh version of Windows 10 Home. Everything seemed fine until I got to the desktop and noticed no internet, I had an ethernet cable plugged in but I didn't worry, I assumed it was just drivers missing. I grabbed drivers off my laptop and used a USB key to transfer and tried running the setup for them. This is where I am stumped, it says they aren't compatible with the version of Windows, but it's fresh install of Windows 10 off a Microsoft USB stick that I bought a couple years ago. So no internet, nothing will run, no drivers can be installed, not even chipset, same error and even tried upgrading my windows but that won't run either. After a few restarts it stops booting into Windows and the only way to do anything is to reformat and reinstall Windows again.

I talked to ASUS and asked what was wrong since it was a RoG MOBO and they told me the board is defective and I need to RMA it. So I did, got a brand new gigabyte board and the same exact issue is happening. The thing is, I don't even know what can cause this, it has to be hardware since a fresh install of 10 and everything is showing up in the BIOS, I know if I can POST and enter BIOS it's likely a software error but I can't even boot into a new ISO using the media creation tool on a new stick, the Aorus logo pops up and it gets all stretched and weird looking and then the system eventually crashes.

I can't be the only person who has had this problem, any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a test bench, BIOS boots fine. Everything is windows related from what I can see. I switched out Ram, the cpu, I use Onboard display and I tried 4 different bios versions.
If all you had were software issues you would be in Windows by now, in my opinion. Either you are botching the windows media creation tool install onto the USB or there is something else going on that is hardware, or BIOS related. Are you sure you have reset CMOS since those BIOS flashings?

I am in Windows, I just can't install drivers. As I have said a million times by now in this thread.

You said you got to windows on one occasion. You have repeatedly stated otherwise like the following.

Yes. But it won't boot from it. If you read my previous posts it hangs and will not boot from the NEW media creation usb. Only boots from the old windows 10 one. It's pretty easy to understand.

It states it is not compatible with W10_DHC

When I try to boot from it I get a distorted Aorus logo a light blue screen then the system crashes, only from the new one, the old one brings me to a windows installation screen with no issue.

Tried all those options. Windows 11 doesn't boot, tried one stick of Ram and different slots and XMP

I am back. Okay so I got the new cpu in. New recovery screen actually pops up. Says it can't load a windows kernel file and asks for recovery usb it disc.
So can you get windows 11 installed onto the PC or not?

Nope. Only Windows 10. Windows 11 throws up an error.
Okay, so in the BIOS settings do you have UEFI Bios enabled? Secure boot enabled? Intel PTT enabled? Windows 11 has some more requirements than Windows 10. Your motherboard and CPU are new enough that these should be enabled by default in the BIOS, but if they are not for whatever reason they can prevent Windows 11 compatibility.

I checked and it is enabled and when I try and load the Windows 11 USB that I loaded on with Rufus since it wouldn't work with the Media Creation Tool I get the Aorus logo stretched and all glitchy across the screen and nothing, just stalls.
So just to be clear, what PC are you using to load Windows 11 with the media creation tool? If it is the PC that has issues then that's a non-starter. If its your laptop that presumably has no issues, I have no idea what's going on at this point. I would need to see what is happening on a video or pictures at the least.

You can try opening CMD and running a command on the new PC to check for corruption. Type the following into an admin CMD; "sfc /scannow"

This will scan Windows for corruption and attempt to repair it. If it finds anything it cannot repair we can do a DISM command that will fix it.

The PC has no internet or drivers so no, I am not using that system to create the media on...
I am not sure where I am having trouble explaining the issue, I built a new system, I have two USB sticks, one is Microsoft Windows 10, certified, from them and only has whatever they put on the sticks they sell. The other is a clean new, 32 GB from Wal-Mart, I put Windows 11 on it using the media creation tool from the Microsoft website. The USB with Windows 10 WILL work, it installs fine with no issue but apparently that one has for whatever reason no drivers, I can't install drivers either - it has no internet and will not allow me to install anything and eventually stops booting up after a few restarts.

The second USB, with Windows 11, just doesn't boot at all, it hangs, each time with some various error or just stalls completely, I followed all the directions for creating the media and I know it isn't the USB since it works on my other system with no issue.

This may have been already asked, but have you tried downloading the zip file drivers on to your laptop hard drive, then transfer the zip files from the hard drive to another USB stick? Then use that USB stick on the new computer to install the drivers?
Multiple times, the drivers themselves DO NOT install, it throws up a compatibility error. This was the first thing I tried when I saw there were no drivers since I used to do this on XP all the time.

Where did you acquire the USB stick with Windows 10 and a Windows key? Was it really cheap? If there was anything else on that Windows 10 install drive that you bought, like some malware, then that can be preventing new Windows installs and installation of drivers in the OS itself. Do you have a second storage device to use to install windows onto for the new PC? If so try the Windows 11 USB you created.

You can, as a test, try the Windows 11 USB on the laptop. Just change the boot order in the BIOS to USB to see if the Windows 11 installer from the USB even runs on another PC for a sanity check. Obviously, do not actually install the OS on the laptop unless you want to reformat.

Nowhere cheap. It was full price when windows 10 was new. Purchased it from Amazon I believe.

I am watching this discussion hoping to learn. I have actually had a situation where two different motherboards were bad. And from everything written so far, could it be that the second MB has a bad component? I realize it’s rare for two different MBs to have the same issue. Well, good luck . I will keep watching, hopefully you can get it solved soon.

Yup. It was from Microsoft. It is legit.
If everything is legit, the hardware is all fine, and its just the install from a Window 11 USB that wont initialize coupled with a Windows 10 install that went through but disallows driver installers, I do not know what's going on. I would try the above suggestions about the sfc /scannow command, if you have not already done so, and checking that the Windows 11 USB device at least loads properly on another PC.

Yeah I got a buddy trying to install 11 on his system tonight on the m.2 alone so that will settle a bit of everything.

SO my buddy tried the drive on his system and it knocked out his whole system, he got really worried, I am going to pick up a new drive today and try that on my system and see what happens. Went with a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB.

Oh and I forgot to mention, he noticed he had other problems with thermal paste on his CPU pins and got his system back up and running again, I don't know what happened, I wasn't with him at the time.

So it worked finally in my buddies build, the drive at least. He got W11 on it and will be able to give it back on Tuesday and I can chuck it in my system and see what happens.
It works in mine now as well... Windows 11 installed and all the drivers are present. No idea why it was doing that before, what a weird problem.
