I upgraded froma 2.6C to a 3.2E processor. when I go to start the computer the lights flash and the fans spin real quick but the computer powers off.

I have a 380watt Antec power supply and a Intel D875PBZ motherboard. I disconneted a hard drive and CD-Rom to see if that would help. If it was a power issue. Could this still be a power issue or could it be a bad processor.

I replaced the old processor and it boots fine. Any suggestions??

You may need to upgrade the BIOS by flashing it. Try defaulting it first. Hopefully, you made your self a BIOS Rescue disk before you started this.

Thanks. I checked the BIOS and its on the latest version and there is no way to load the defaults. I can load optimal and custom. They have the CPU setting loced down.

When you update the BIOS you need to default to make it the default BIOS. Short the pins on the jumper next to the CMOS battery and try again.

That's right, not all versions supported Prescott CPUs.
