Hi, I built my first ever computer ever, here the part I installed.

Corsair Carbide 500r
Corsair TX 650W
MSI Z77A-G45 ATX LGA1155
Intel i5 3570k Ivy Bridge 1155
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Corsair Vengeance Black Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz
LiteOn IHAS122-18 22x Internal SATA DVD-RW Black
Sandisk 128GB SSD Extreme SATA 6Gb/s
Seagate 1TB Barracuda SATA 6GB/ 64MB 7200RPM
TP Link 300Mps Wirless N PCI Adapter

I installed all the components, and connected to my monitor using the motherboard connection. Everything worked fine and finally installed windows 7.

I set up my internet and other software. However I didn't install any drivers, bios for the motherboard until I could download from the website.

Today I recieved my new MSI 7850, Twin Frozr, 2GB GPU.

I disconnected everything and installed the GPU, even wore an anti static wrist band for safety.

I didn't used the 6 pin to 2 molex adapter supplied by the GP, as my PSU had the 6 pin connector which I used.

I connected the vga from my monitor to the motherboard Vga, or used the HDMI as well.

Turned on the computer, the motherboard LED lights flashing, the CPU, GPU, other fans are running so the computer is running.

But my monitor is showing no display, says no signal, neither from VGA or HDMI. I even used another monitor, and the same problem happened.

Switching cables, or monitors didn't help. I need help, I'm not computer savvy, built my computer watching youtube videos and research.

I know that until I installed the GPU, the display stopped working. :??:

Can someone please help, is it the GPU, software or hardware problem. All the components work fine together, and even the GPU goes according to my motherboard so there shouldn't be compatibility issues, and the PSU can handle all the components fine.

It's 9pm, UK time. I gave up trying to fix the problem, so I try tommorrow. If it's the GPU fault, I can return it back to amazon, but I don't understand how, the fans are working, so I figured if the GPU fans are working, then the GP is working.

Anyway, I be greatful to anyone who can provide a solution.

Go into bios and check if the video output is set to pci express. if that doesnt work go into safe mode and un-install any previous drivers for the integrated gfx.. then clean install the drivers that came with the card (for now) and if all that fails update your bios. let us know how it goes

As I can see anything on the screen, should I take my graphics out, then go into the bios, and check the video output? What should the video output be anyway?

I know this sound stupid, but 'integrated gfx', is that the mobo onboard graphics card, should I install that.

To be honest I haven't installed any drivers. All I did was when I first turned on the PC, go to the bios, and change the boot from USB, so I could install windows 7 from my USB drive, and once Installed Windows 7, I just installed my wireless PCI card installation disk to access the internet. And that is is, apart from those two installation, I haven't installed any drivers for the mobo or graphics card. I was planning to do that today, but couldn't see anything on the monitor, mobo wouldn't connect to the Monitor since I put in the GPU in.

Anyway, I do that tomorrow, take out the GPU, and see if it works then. As I asked earlier, what should the video out put be anyway. If I unplugged the GPU, then the mobo won't detect the GPU, so what should the settings be?

Should I do this:
1. Take out the gpu, and go to Bios.
2. Make sure the GPU output is the PCI express and NOT the mobo?
3. Then install the graphics card drivers, and update the bios.
4. Then shut down the computer, and disconnect everthing.
5. Install the GPU.
6. Connect the VGA or HDMI to the GPU, not the Mobo.

Also you say that I need to uninstall the drivers, if I didn't install anything, would this step apply??

Anyway thanks for the input.

Hi, yeah, once I installed the GPU, I connected my VGA to the mobo, and when that didn't work, I tried the HDMI. I didn't connect the cables to the graphics card, as I assumed that you needed to install the graphics card first before it worked. Is what I did was wrong, like I said, I'm not an expert on this area, so do you think I should plug into the GPU, and see if that works???

if the mobo detects a gpu the output will always be routet to the graphics card output. you thought in "windows-terms", but the bios is one layer before.
to enable full functionality of the gpu in windows you need a driver, yes. but the bios will give you basic graphic as well. otherwise you couldnt join the bios options 😉.

Hi, thanks everyone for the tips, I managed to get everything working, installed all the drivers, and now the display works. Thanks Again.

How did you fix it? I have the same issue, boots fine without GPU, once I install it power cables and all, the fans spin on everything including GPU but no signal to the monitor.

I have both 'VGA' cables coming from the PSU (6+2 pin) plugged into the gpu as well.

Take it out and it boots again...

Tried VGA and HDMI to both GPU and MOBO

Hey, as my motherboard has a dedicated graphics, at it has a hdmi port, the problem was I plugged my hdmi in the motherboard instead of the GPU, but once I changed the cable and plugged the HDMI in the GPU, my pc worked perfectly fine.

It seems you have got everything working, power to your GPU, but your PC monitor SHOULD be connected to the GPU, not the motherboard since you have a GPU. Also if it's still not working, have you checked your monitor display cables, or even your monitor. Sometimes the cable could be broke, or depending on your monitor, you might have to change some settings around.

If this still doesn't help, post your message to the whole board, you should get more tips from the other users. Anyway, good luck, hope everything works out for you.
