Hello all
I have recently built my first PC (components below) - I put everything together but the PC wont post with the GPU connected

Can someone please check If im just being stupid. This has been a steep learning curve for me, and the componets are right and everything seems ok?

The error: When I turn it on the DRAM light comes on yellow and then the PC shuts down. The fans power up and lights come on but then the light comes on and it powers down then restarts and doies the whole process again.
From looking around online this light would intidacte that its a memory issue, Howevery I have changed out the RAM, I have also upgraded the PSU thinking it may be a power issue

Things I have done to try and remedy it
- updated Bios
- reset CMOS
- changed RAM
-changed PSU
- double triple checked all connections and cables
-taken it apart and put back together again

The PC will boot when the GPU isn't connected, SO I have managed to set the computer up and install windows etc, but now I am stuck with an expensive (for me) GPU that won't work

Overall I kinda wish I built a prebuilt as I have a newborn at home and i'm under so much sleep deprivation and stress that I don't need this hassle right (nor spending).
I'm hoping its just me being stupid rather than a hardware issue

Thanks and i appreaciate any help I may receive

Hi new to the site.

What I would do is unplug the pcie power cords that go into the power supply and check the connectors to see if the pins are seated in the cable connector and plug them back in. Those cheap connectors the industry uses are junk and not always make good connections.

Also, you need to allow it to power cycle itself a few times as this is how it sets up timing settings for the card. That is not a malfunction and it sounds like you might be interrupting that process.

Try booting with one RAM module, connect two separate PCI-E connectors to the GPU and try to reseat the CPU power cable on the now free connector.
I was wonder about that myself if it was two pcie cords or a y split which should be banned entirely. Its a lot of current and to be honest with everyone the industry's connectors are not correct for the current they are using. Much less mechanical design of them.

Hello, the PSU has a cover on it, Ill try and take it off and have a look now. I have changed PSU's as well.

THe PSU is the daisy chained going into the GPU if that makes a difference.

Thanks

i know this might be a silly question

but when you built it and powered it on, and after the clearing of the cmos.. did you give it a chance for the pc to finish its ram testing. as you say it goes of on the "yellow Dram", this doe this when "memory training.. it will do this a few times.
could you reboot the pc and just let it reboot and see it did automatically kicks on and reboots again. and then into windows or bios.. ..
