Hey there. I'm new here.

I just have a problem with Adobe and it appears Java.
When an application starts to try to use these (convert Word to pdf for
example) it just hangs up. I've noticed in the task manager that the
item that hangs up (Microsoft Word in the example) appears twice.
Occasionally, something seems to trigger it and it starts again, but I
haven't been able to pinpoint anything that is common to occurances
where it DOESN'T hang up...

Anywhere to start looking would be great.

I'll also have to have a look at networking an XP Pro laptop (using a
domain) with an XP Home desktop... not easy. But I can search the
networking forum for that.

Thanks in advance.

The first thing I'd do is check the event viewer in administrative tools.
Look for anything with a red error indicator.
When you look at task manager and you see the same thing listed twice, does
one say 'Not responding'?
