norton antivirus crashes computer

Hi there, My buddy was doing a virus scan when it came across the "funner"
virus. It could not delete it? so it crashed and now he cannot get into any
user accounts. It logs you off as soon as you click the administrator
icon...He tried "safe mode" but no luck...any suggestions on how to get back
into windows? Thanks.
