No one knows and anything at this point is just an uneducated guess. We need real benchmarks.

right and that's pretty much the point of this thread really. :) 1st page has a lot of specific info on the card models and the rest is a place for some fun speculation.

we all know that nothing is set in stone and until we get hands on specific parts we'll not truly know. but what fun would it be to sit back and just wait??

but to answer the question, i'd expect a 1050 ti, if there is such a thing, to be close to a 470. since the 480 is pretty close to a 1060, no reason to go any higher with a 1050ti. so a 1050 would be probably half way between a 460 and 470. 460 is rather weak so no need to go that far down for a 10505 model. would not make sense to me to have both cards but then people just love to spend more money for a tiny bit more performance. and it's not like nvidia did not do something similar with the 950 and 960 being so close together. nor the last titan x and 980ti also being very close in performance.

so who really knows what they may do. but i'd expect at least 1 card in the 1050 range. either norm or ti to make it sound better.

some people do it for fun and some other try looking into more interesting aspect. for example if 1050 end up being faster than RX460 where will the pricing will end up? i think AMD set the MSRP for RX460 4GB at around 140.1060 3GB is at MSRP is at$200. board partner card might end up with within 210-230. but if some board partner like MSI did something similar to this we might see even some OCed 1060 3GB priced at base MSRP price for 1060 3GB.

so nvidia have to put 1050 not too close to 1060 3GB because that will make people buying 1060 3GB instead of 1050. heck even at $150 depending on how fast 1050 are 1060 could end up being the better choice for only $50 more. and that still not counting other factor such as AMD RX460 performance and pricing.

yeah for some people thinking all this stuff alone making the speculation exciting haha 😀

I have been super busy with closing on a new house, closing the quarter at work, and a new baby, so I haven't had the time to do a lot of reading, but I am in the market for a 1080.

Is there one that stands out above the others?

I will be using it for a single X34 or x34p if it comes out soon and VR.

honestly, none has stood out. they all boost to the same speeds and are barely separated by 2-3 fps. grab the one that looks the best and is priced right for you. that's really the "best" one out of the bunch. fist page of this thread has a long list of all the models and specs and such so you can compare and contrast what each brings. but sadly nvidia has made sure there is no room for a card to stand out this time around.

If they all "perform" the same, then what about noise and temperature?

other than the FE cards, i have not seen one that runs hot or loud yet. sure there is a touch of difference but nothing that makes one massively better than the others. don't think i have seen more than 4-5 degrees between cards. same with noise, not seen any that were truly "loud". again some were a bit louder than others but they were all within acceptable range. well except for the watercooled and hybrid cards. they of course run very cool and quiet.

but if a few degrees makes all the difference to you, then by all means go for that one. :)

i wish i could get into games enough to need a 1080 so i could justify the cost 😀

but just cause i have never bought a high end gpu i may get one just to say i got one. minesweeper will look awesome with that gpu at 4k and 12345 fps!!!!!

Just curious, what GPU do you have right now?

3 pc's and i have a 280, 270x and a 270. bought in random order as needed. the 280 is in the best machine with the 4690k while the others are in less potent machines that serve other purposes.

the kids really are the gamers in the house and they use the 270 with a q6600 !!! they'll get the 4690k hand me down later this year when i do the new build and i may update them to a 1060/70 depending on prices at the holidays and how much they are willing to throw in for the purchase. there are some games out and coming soon that i will buy for myself more than likely so i may just go stupid and get a 1080 to be able to really play them. dawn of war 3 for sure when that comes out and i have forza 3 and maybe horizon 3 when it goes on sale. gonna go full custom watercooled loop and all the bells and whistles just cause i want to for the new build. looking at one of those open wall mounted cases to display the custom tubing work my brother is gonna do for me (he's a glass blower by trade). lots of color shifts and bling and whatever else he can come up with. 😀

still thinking a ftw card with water block on it. got a friend who messes with custom bios and we both wonder if there is any more performance to gain from it. i don't think there is but still want to give ti a shot. that and i just love the name FOR THE WIN and like saying it.

It's WCCFTech so take it with a grain of salt but they're saying the 1080 Ti is coming in January with 12GB of GDDR5X.

yah saw that and it appears to be a new rumor and not the old one that has surfaced a few times already. but looking at the 980 ti v titan from maxwell it would not surprise me if they did it again and screw over the current pascal titan owners.

don't know why anyone would by a titan card knowing how badly nvidia likes to screw them over.

The titan owners are at fault in my opinion. They know that a 1080TI would be coming. But I guess patience isn't in the list of to-do's.

The Titan has never been a consumer card, its always been aimed at the prosumer market.
