that's right in line with the other pascal cards for top speed. the reviews i read on the FE 1080ti shows thermal limits like normal keeping the cards below 1600 mhz most of the time.

difference is that the 1080 FE actually hit 2 ghz and could stay there where clearly the 1080ti can't on FE cooling.

and not like MSI and EVGA is not gonna release 3 watercooled models each based on the FE card like always. Seahawk series is all reference boards. so would be good to see a preview from igor of what these cards may be able to do once they come out.

i'm curious how high custom cards are gonna average with boost speeds considering how high all the other pascal cards hit

i'm seeing a few custom cards getting product pages but none are listing speeds right now. it's all TBD. guess i'll have to wait a few days for specs to be posted so can start that long list :)

not looked over other sites yet today. is anyone posting custom card reviews for the ti cards yet?

Got lucky on an update from nowinstock and grabbed an EVGA founders edition 1080 ti from newegg - I am beyond stoked. I debated over waiting for one of the board partner cards that were factory overclocked and had the aftermarket coolers but...I went back and compared the overclocked 1080 FE results with the later released board partner ones and there was maybe 1-2 fps difference in the final results. and, since there's no $100 premium on the ti FE the board partner cards will almost certainly be more expensive, so I figured why wait. Cant wait to see what it can do.

EVGA is a tier 1 Nvidia partner. They always release multiple versions of every GPU.

i expect a good number of these cards. just like the others. look at page 1 and change 1080 to 1080 ti for each model. that's what i expect to see. EVGA has 12 or more versions of each card until you get to the lower end. i figure at least 10 1080 ti cards from them as they keep adding them.

everyone read the 1080 ti watercooled OC article posted this morning on tom's?? http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-1080-ti-water-cooling,4975.html

i expected 275w+ for 1080 ti cards and seems i under guessed a bit. closer to 300w for 2+ ghz is what tom's measured once they cooled the card correctly. that was only a reference card so i expect the over engineered custom cards to average 280-290w and break 315w easily once overclocked. 2 x 8-pin power connections should be the norm for these cards with only reference designs sticking to the 6/8-pin design. doubt many custom pcb's will stick to it

IMO majority custom card most likely going to stick with 6+8 pin configuration. 8+8 most likely only for those with was build for extreme overclock like for example MSI Lightning or Galax HOF. if the power consumption only slightly above 300w those 6+8 pin most likely able to handle them just fine. AMD R9 295x2 for example use around 430w even on average. but the card only have 8+8 which including PCIE slot only provide 375w of power.

considering how many 1070 cards have 2 8-pins. somehow i don't think a simple "not really needed" will be enough to keep 1080ti models from having them. we'll know soon enough but i still expect more than half the models to use 2 8-pins. still waiting for some product pages to know for sure, but keeping an eye out.

the zotac mini is not that much shorter for a 1080 card. couple inches shorter for sure but nowhere near as short as the 1070 and below mini cards.

it is 211mm long while something like the gigabyte 1070 mini is only 169mm. i guess the 1080 gpu just can't be shrunk as much as the lower powered 1050/60/70 cards. so i doubt a 1080ti card will show any smaller. zotac may be able to get a 1080ti mini around 211mm like the 1080 but not much smaller really. it is plenty short for the power it holds but not what exactly i'd call "mini" in the truest sense of the word :)

FE cards went live a few days ago. still waiting for custom models to show up. no specs at all that i can find on custom cards though some teaser pics have been released. same models you'd expect from the major brands like the other pascal cards. just no specs or product pages yet to link to.

that's about 203mm for an 8" card. i don't think you'll see that short with a 1080ti. considering the only small 1080 is the zotac mini at 211mm. but if you actually can fit that extra 8-10mm then you may get lucky. clearly the brands are considering mini cards as there are more and more of them. zotac may pull it off with another 211mm mini 1080ti card.

that would be very nice to see.
