What resolution is that?

Those are 1440p numbers.

Nvidia got me again, good bye AMD, it was nice 6 years run with 6990 and 290X, but time to move back to green side with 1080ti, it's simply far superior to anything red team can offer now and I suspect this year too.

That's a very silly thing to say when we haven't really seen what Vega is capable of and the price they will be charging for it. I love my 1080 and I'm sure I'd like a 1080 ti as well but I'm going to wait until Vega before I make a purchase. Only going to be waiting because I really don't need another card.

maybe you can say that because you already have 1080 performance right now. but what about people that holding back from buying cards like 1080 because they were waiting for AMD to release something that competitive? it is almost a year since nvidia release 1080/1070 to the market. yes AMD have been slowing down releasing new cards this past few years but most often they still offer something that can compete with nvidia fastest card. 290X vs 780ti, Fury X vs 980ti. of course people expecting AMD to compete directly with 1080 after a few weeks/months after nvidia release 1080. but in the end AMD doesn't have anything to offer against 1080 for almost a year. this is also probably the reason why some people a bit skeptical about Vega going to compete head to head with 1080ti.

last year titan x was officially called as Titan X. the titan maxwell was officially called as GTX Titan X. this new one officially called as Titan Xp?

Someone needs to make one of those cheesy light bars for the top of these cards that renames the original Titan X the GTX 1090 and this new card could be renamed the GTX 1090 Ti.

I'm still a fan of Nvidia recycling the Voodoo name, or a least not just re-using Titan. They could grab other Greek mythology names at least.

Though I agree a simple model number would suffice. Not sure about the 90, they usually reserved that for dual GPU cards.

I thought about that before posting. I decided to bite the bullet and even thought about resurrecting the Titan Z moniker, but NVidia is hoping everyone will forget that the Titan Z ever existed. Isn't the GTX 690 the last numbered dual GPU card from NVidia? Surely the performance advances since then deserve a 90 series name. If NVidia ever lost their mind again and decided to make a dual GPU card, they could use the GTX 1095 name (assuming it was GP102 based).

BTW, I followed that link and one of the most interesting things on the site was the Galax single slot 1070. Looked like a winner.

Titan XP is for sale at nvidia and it's only $1200 https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/titan-xp/

i guess AMD must really have something with Vega if nvidia is so scared right now. they can't sit still very long at all since it seems they know something we don't and are making counter-moves before Vega even hits the stores

Or the Pascal Titan no longer makes business sense.

For gamers, of course not. But for prosumers...

The titan cards have always been in a league of their own. Giving it a number just wouldn't fit considering pricing/specs compared to the other numbered cards. But to give the full chip the exact same name? I'd have gone with titan x pascal squared...
What nvidia should do is put up big *** warnings so those boneheaded gamers won't make such a poor life decision... then again, they're probably counting on them to do that. Tinfoil, I say, tinfoil...
Either way, this is just another slap in the face to titan X 'pascal' owners. Well, some of them, anyway.

I don't see it that way. After all, the early adopters have had their cards for about 8 months and the new cards don't make them slower. Those who bought the original Pascal Titans knew that the 1080Ti was coming, eventually, and they should have known the newer, shinier Titan was coming, too.

I don't think anyone was expecting that second titan... at least, not so soon. After 1180/2080, or whatever they're going to call it.
But who's going to bother buying this new titan? Only those who held off on buying the previous version will, which can't be many. Then there's still the 1080ti for gaming.

i don't know how much nvidia know about Vega but they never really let their guard down when it comes to AMD. this is most likely to prepare themselves if vega can surprise them. they did the same with last year 1080. 980 was 10% faster than 780ti at launch. with 1080 nvidia raise the bar by making 1080 20%-25% faster than stock 980ti. this is most likely done with anticipation that polaris 10 will be competitive with nvidia GP104 offering. but in the end AMD is being AMD.
