Nvidia GTX 1080, 1070 'Founders Editions' Just Reference Cards

It's highly unlikely that you'll see cards with custom PCBs, customer coolers and overclocked for $100 less. That is the partners suggested retail price, but they aren't restricted from charging more.
What is likely to happen is that we'll see custom coolers on reference specced cards for that cheap, and overclocked cards will come somewhere between 599 and 699.
There's no incentive to charge more though. People who want a Founders edition are going to seek it out for the blower cooler for better SLI support.

Doubles in specific VR situations only. It's at best 30% faster than a 980 ti stock and it thermal throttles after 20 minutes so you won't see all that performance.
 


Based on the prices for the GTX 1080 that just popped up in the Netherlands, my fears were realized. Reference card €799 and third party €830. I won't be able to afford one until competition brings prices down by at least €150.
