Nvidia Optimus

I'm planning on buying the ASUS ROG Zephyrus 15 or the Scar 15 or something along those lines with the 5000 AMD cpu and 3000 Nvidia graphics. From what I understand these use Optimus and there is no manual switch to override the Integrated Graphics.
I'm going to use it for AutoCAD and 3Ds Max and my question is if optimus is going to cause me problems/decrease performance to the point that I can feel while working?

They shouldn't in reality. I've had multiple laptops that were based off of Nvidia's Optimus technology and they all ran SketchUp+Vray and AutoCAD without a hitch.
