Not only do they want to settle with a computer that is nowhere near the computer I had bought (if I had wanted a Compaq I would have bought one instead of the HP), but now they tell me that I have to do without my computer for 8 to 10 weeks because they did not expect the number of claims that they received. I use my computer every day for work or otherwise, now I am not only expected to settle for a computer that does not even come close to the one I had (they say I should be happy because it has the new Windows 7 as if that should make up for all the other stuff), but now I am also inconvenienced with having to do without a computer for 2 1/2 months on top of that. Should we not be compensated for that also? For some of us, our computer is our livelihood I think that "like or simular kind and value" should mean just that and they should not be able to replace our computers with a much cheaper one which is not even the same brand as the one we bought in the first place. I don't know about anyone else, but I looked at computers for some time before I bought the one I had and Compaq was not even in consideration at the time.

The wait is now up to sixteen weeks, if you call up. Their excuse it that they did not expect so many claims. The FAQ on the settlement website still states a six to ten week period from approval date to shipment. Every week that the process goes on seems to add a few weeks. Compaq is a HP brand.

I received my replacement Compaq Presario today only to find out that it too is faulty. The touchpad doesn't work right and HP has determined that it will need to be sent in for repair. I am one of the people who were not satisfied with the results of the Nvidia GPU Litigation. Now I'm really not happy.

Hey abgillette, when was your computer received by them? Mine was received by them on March 17 and I still haven't got so much as a peep from them. I did notice that their website says that they started shipping on the 12th (about time).

-Thanks,
Matthew

The touchpad does not work correctly, thers is no card reader and no PC card slot, very disappointing. This computer is very basic and does not even represent the median computer purchased.

Anyone have an issue when the said laptop was recycled prior to the settlement? I tried sending the original hard drive as proof but they rejected my claim, which was originally accepted. Problem is, I recycled the thing 2 years ago ... trying to be a good citizen and I get screwed like this ... anyone else have this issue, and what can I due about it?

we have been robbed by hp. I had my mother board repaired and they installed another envidia chip knowingly that it would break down on me. together with what i payed and my repairs im up to almost 1600$ and they are trying to compensate me with a computer i can buy at best buy for299.00. im gonna talk to a lawyer and so should everyone else..if we won once we can win twice. lets geb justice and not settle for this crappy compaq presarios.

I can't be the only one with this problem ....

I am still waiting to get my replacement. I got my letter on March 21st and sent my computer back to them on March 23rd. They received it march 25th and HP reviewed in on March 31st. In the settlement agreement it stated that replacements would be sent 6-8 weeks after yours was sent in. I just called them earlier this week and my replacement is not set to ship until July 15th. Good thing I don't need my laptop or anything. As I haven't been able to turn the darn this one since the beginning of the year.

I totally agree with people being upset with the replacements. Bought my HP laptop brand new in 9/2007 and paid 1,100 for it. I know that it's not worth the same amount now, but it had a built in webcam, light scribe dvd burner and many other extras because it was a limited edition computer. I just think it goes to show what these companies really think about the people who spend their hard earned money for something that should last a lot longer then what these have.

My machine had 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50, the replacement machine has single core. The replacement machine is what people buy for preschoolers to play simple educational games on. It does not replace my machine with similair kind or value because it won't allow me to multitask.

Received my replacement unit today. One POC for another.
My Hp had a webcam, this one doesn't. Had 17"monitor. Now 15.6
Guess I'll consider myself Lucky to have received Anything.

I LOVE the Lenovo Thinkpad Edge I bought because I required a Real Laptop to work with and couldn't be 'down' while I waited for the replacement.
