Question OC, vsync and gsync.

My monitor, I can OC to 165Hz from 144Hz. Is it worth it or it just a gimmick? If it can do 165Hz why not make it standard and not make it OC?

The only time I get over 165Hz is in FPS games with everything on Ultra/Very High. But when I play games like AC Origin or Odyssey with everything on High I get around 120Hz dips to 100Hz (depending) I tried everything on Ultra/Very High and I would get around 80Hz and dip to 60Hz. I play at 1440p on an IPS panel with a 2080ti and 9900k (both not OC yet).

I have gsync turned on and that only helps with screen tearing right? Also, when should I have vsync turned on? Never right?

Because the standards are 60Hz and 120Hz and 75Hz and 144Hz and people love their standards.
