OEM PSU - 24 pin cable won't come out

Hi,
I am supposed to be 'upgrading' and 'fixing' a literally ancient computer. It's an "Advent" computer with an early C2D. So, I have a graphics card and replacement PSU. I unplug the plugs, unscrew the PSU.

The 24 pin cable won't come out. It just won't. I've even managed to break the clip on it attempting to ease it out and it still won't come out.

Is it common practice for OEM's to glue the 24 pin cable or is it just stuck? If it is just stuck, how can I get it out without damaging anything?

Thanks in advance!

Given this a try. It seems to move freely back and forth in the plug (not side to side) but it won't budge.

This has happened to me even on a brand new right (did a test run and then couldn't get the 24-pin). Try using a strong knife or box cutter. Put it between the socket and plug and twist up. It might take a little while but keep at it. Do one side then the next so it stays even.

Thank you Bob Hayes. I spent 20 minutes wiggling with light pressure and no progress. With a small flat head screw driver I had it out of the motherboard in 30 seconds.
