So im currently making a caseless pc and my gpu’s second fan isn’t working. I have a MSI GTX 980 and i think it’s the twinforce, but I’m not sure. Do keep in mind that this system is over 4 years old. When i turn on the PC the left fan is working( and the left side is cool) while the right side isn’t working (and it’s warm to the touch)

I don't think the GTX 980 had anything like that feature back then, did it? At least the GTX 980 I used to have didn't.

Yes it did. The MSI GTX980 Gaming 4G model specifically, which has the Twin Frozr V cooler, had that feauture. I had two of those cards in SLI, and I only sold them a few months ago. That is the only MSI GTX 980 modfel with that feature. The fans can even be adjusted independant of eachother.

Like I said, there's a sticker on the cooler itself which explains the feature to avoid confusion, which you have to remove before installing the card.

It is also described here, under the Zero Frozr Section for the Gaming 4G version of the MSI GTX 980 (scroll down about half way down the page. It...
Have you checked if the fan spins when the GPU is under load?

If it has idle fan stop, one fan will stop spinning when the GPU is not being stressed. I had two MSI GTX980 Gaming 4G that had that feature. It's the TwinFrozr cooler.
One fan is always spinning, one stops when the temperature is below a certain limit, and both fans spin when the GPU temperature rises above a set limit.

(You even have to remove a sticker from the cooler when it's new, which explains the feature)

Is there any way to fix it or is it dead for good?
Unless the issue is a loose or broken wire between motor and connector, it is shot.
I suspect the motor's stator or armature winding opened due to overuse/heat/overcurrent or poor quality.

OP's card may very well be broken, but I personally would check the fan to see if it operates under heavy load before paniking.
