[SOLVED] Only some SATA power connectors work in a connector string

I have an older PSU that came from an HP desktop that my employer was going to throw away. I realize this might be part of my problem right there but, I'd like to make sure just in case. The PSU has 2-strings of 3 daisy-chained SATA power connectors, factory wired, no splitters or anything. We'll call them string #1 & string #2, and connectors A, B, & C. Connector A is closest to the PSU on the string, C is the furthest. On string #1, only connector A works. On string #2, only connectors A & B work. I found this out by plugging in each SATA power connector to a known good hard drive along with a known good SATA /data cable and seeing if the HHD shows up in BIOS. Are all the other connectors just bad or am I missing something obvious? They don't look physically broken or anything.

Thanks!
