if cpu's are overclocked does that mean that the life span of the cpu will be shorter comparing the longvetity or non over clocked cpus??

i was thinking of maybe learning to do some over clock work for my new i7 920 computer when i get it or have cypberpowerpc overclock it for me but if i have to replace the cpu in a few years i might not want to do that :/

As long as you don't push it too far, it shouldn't cause any noticeable problems. Stay within a reasonable voltage and make sure your temps don't go too high, but give it a bit of a boost. Its well worth the extra processing power you can get. the i7 920 is also got some solid headroom without overdoing it.
