So this is an odd one which iv not been able to find an answer for.
I recently upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2600x, to a Ryzen 7 5800x. My bios has been updated, version is dated 8/12/2020.
I have a red CPU LED (EZ debug) on my motherboard... the information that the instructions give are not very detailed and advise that the cpu isnt properly seated or damaged. However - if the CPU wasn't seated, or if there were any bent pins im sure my computer wouldn't start at all. is that right?
There seem to be many people ask questions on the CPU light however none of those systems turn on/ post. mine runs without any issues other than the LED.
So far:
I have ensured that the cpu fan/ and cpu pump are connected to the motherboard correctly
I have updated the bios a few times (trying both standard and beta versions)
updated the chipsets
I have ensured that after i have updated the bios, i have gone into the bios, XMP on and ram clocked to the factory stated spec
Iv looked at my system information and my pc seems to pick everything up fine
I want to try other things before i check/ re-seat the CPU as im fairly certain If it was that, my computer wouldn't play far cry.
am i overthinking? shall I just stick a bit of electrical tape over the light?
My specs are:
b450 tomhawk motherboard
Ryzen 7 5800x
RTX 2060 GPU (planning on upgrading to 3080 when one becomes available)
2x 8GB RAM 3000 mhz corsair
Corsair 550w PSU (will be upgrading to accommodate the 3080 power usage)
1tb MVME SSD and a 2TB mechanical
corsair h100 liquid cooler
windows 10
