I have been using this PC for about 3 years now with no problems. I was gone all summer and when I came back I went to update the bios and it failed mid update. After this the computer would not turn on at all. I then proceeded to replace the bios chip and now the computer turns on for about 10 seconds allowing me to just get into the bios or just get to the login screen before it turns off again. I have tried replacing ram, and power supply, resetting the cmos and battery and also trying to turn on without any pci devices. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it, or is the motherboard just bricked?

My hardware is:
Intel 6600k
Hyper 212 cooler
Corsair RM750x
16 GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz
Nvidia GTX 1070
Asrock Z170M Extreme 4

You will need a new MB, either z170 or Z270, because you even replace the BIOS chip, I think you may brick the MB during the BIOS update.

But before you buy the new MB, try to recovery the BIOS first, try the old or new bios chip. How to : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=269702.0
Will that recovery work even though I have an Asrock motherboard? And also if I do need to replace the motherboard do you think it would make more sense to replace motherboard with the same chipset or sell the CPU and go ahead and get a new CPU and motherboard like the Ryzen 3600x

The method should be similar. here is from the asrcok https://www.asrockrack.com/support/faq.asp?id=2

If you have the budget, yes, go for the ryzen 3600x. Sell the intel cpu/ RAM, keep in mind the AM4 MB is very picky for the RAM, you can try the old RAM first, if they don't work well with AM4, then sell them too, you can reuse the gpu+ PSU.
Okay I will try the bios recovery and if not will continue with the Ryzen system. Will report back if it works
