Ok guys i can a screwball problem on a system and i can't for the life of me figure out what is causing it.

this guys computer im working on wants to go to the best buy site then goes to computer and periphiles then to hard drives and when he clicks on the special there the wd 120 driver and goesd to view the larger angle? it simply pops up as a grey screen. also they cannot bring up an internet explorer page when they click a link . they have to manually put it in. any one clued in as to why this is happening? i checked for firewalls and the like and nothing is on .. no pop up killers are active either. so what could be causeing this? any guesses?

I checked that and set it to low its still going on. it seems like a program is in the way. or something is preventing it from working.

I have not used their test for a long time but if things get confussing sometimes the test results can put you on the right path.

Try clearing out the Temporary Internet Files. Go to Control Panel\Internet Options\Temporary Internet Files\Settings\View Files. Left-click, highlight any file, and press Ctrl+A. Then press Delete.

You can also try clearing the Internet History, and editing or clearing the <A HREF="http://www.zonefx.net/misc/dns_hosts.html" target="_new">hosts</A> file.

As for the link on the Best Buy site, I couldn't get it to load either. The server isn't loading the the page ... so this just happens to be a coincidence.

There was a really annoying program that got loaded with either Kazaa or iMesh if you weren't careful (can't remember the name of it now, of course). This program (for some really odd reason I can't fathom) put up a blank grey 'window' in front of any browser window that was opened. Clicking the 'X' on this window got rid of it, and you were able to browse normally. I wish I could remember what program it was... but if you find anything unusual in add or remove programs... trash it.
