Now that is a lucky Allendale.... you bastard. lol 😀

GJ. Question is, is it Prime95 stable?

Mine won't even stay stable if I lower the multi... I need to figure out how to get around this wall or if it is a wall like the great wall of China with armed sentries posted every 20 ft.

it was superpi stable, imma leav eit overnight with orthos or p95 on later on :], still im on air so i dont wanna push it too much, im idling @ 45-46c 😛

Son of a b!tch... my mobo kinda gave out I think. I thought about doing the 1066 mod and so I went into the BIOS upped a few voltages by the smallest increment and rebooted, no problem. Back into the BIOS I decided to sync the memory up instead of doing independent clocking just in case that made a difference. So I set my memory to sync and BOOM, no POST. So I used the debug LED's to try and track down the problem but it didn't help at all. C1 in Award BIOS is less than specific in the POST code guide. I reset the CMOS and still nothing... this is severely frustrating.

These little things are really beginning to anger me. I shall smite DFI.... no wait I didn't say that. lol.

Well thinking about it, I think it is my memory. I don't know why it is, I just have a gut feeling.

I can't even get the BIOS to POST in order to get into the settings. It stops on the C1 code which is prior to POST/Settings screen.

I will try one stick at a time. As of now I have tried using both sticks in DIMM 1/3 and 2/4 but not one at a time.

Yes I did do the "pin mod" to 1066 but this was after the computer failed to boot and started throwing errors. The CPU is actually sitting on my desk next to me drying. 8)

My stable OC settings are saved within the CMOS and aren't deleted on CMOS reset so if I can ever get into the BIOS I at least have those to work with.

It is just such a weird time for it to go down. The memory was at its rated settings 5-5-5-15 @ 501MHz.

I will post again tomorrow after the CPU is dry and I can test the system again.

I got it working again. This morning I dropped the CPU back into the socket and bolted down the 120 extreme and it just worked. I have no idea what I did, but it is working and I am posting from it. I don't have time to test the effectiveness of the pin mod, but I will in due time.

if iw as u id put all the bios settings back to default n then start movin all da things around again, and yeah its stable with orthos stable (2 hours then i got bord) ill show u the ss's when i get home ;p BUT BUT BUT one thing its got me concerned, is the fact that it goes from idle (44c) to load (95c ish) im DEFINITELY sure it has something to do with the heatsink not seated properly, but i don't know what to do , its a zalman 9700nt, and i have reseated that fan at least a good 6 times... still nothng works, maybe in likle a week, imma buy that lapping kit they sell at frozen cpu n try that out, but i dunno 🙁 its really disturbing lol ... right now im runnin my cpu @ 3.2ghz (summer here) n the temps get above 90F

Well sh!t. Killed it again, it is that damn sync memory setting. I truly can't run the memory in sync with the FSB on this board. It won't let me. I can only tune the memory independently apparently. I still need to figure out what caused it to boot up this morning...

Anyhow the pin mod worked, what it did for me, I do not know.

The crash happened before the pin mod.

I got the computer back up and running yet again and still don't know how exactly I did it. I had to remove the mobo battery in combination with CMOS reset and elimination of static discharge, weird crap.

I tried OC'ing some more and it just wouldn't have it. I was having problems getting it stable at 370x9 much less my old record of 375. Not entirely sure why. I may on a random spur just set the BIOS to 405 and see what happens, but not today. I need to get some econ done, this forecasting class is going to kick my ass if I am not careful.

Uberfly.... I like it. 8)

Damn THG is a bit miserly with sig length. Damn CPU-Z dump and BM quote take up most of it..... we need 512 char sigs. 😀

I feelin ballzy... let us see how 405x8 goes, if it even posts I will be surprised. 8O

<--- Avoiding econ.

Update: Nothing... wouldn't go past the Verifying DMI Pool screen not matter how I rigged it [tried 6-10x multi]. It was going to take 1.65v+ probably to stabilize it and and I am not in that kind of mood. Damn you Allendale.

Word.

Just wait until Penryn... I will get an IHSless quadcore to 4.2GHz.... HMMM 4Ghz of goodness.

Oh guess what? DFI updated their BIOS for the RD600 for support with FSB 1333 chips, at least the micro code for them.

RD600 goodness

I haven't flashed my BIOS yet, I am waiting for this WU to finish (F@H). I have the binary sequence on my desktop, just have to actually do it.

I don't anticipate it actually changing anything because the RD600 allows you to specify chipset straps no matter what speeds you are running. It has straps from 100 up to 333 selectable. I hope the BIOS helps, but my expectations aren't that high. :?

Fat person:
"Why do I have to buy 2 plane tickets?"

Carlos:
"Durrr, maybe because you take up two seats"

Nope. I don't know if it is a chipset limitation (most likely) or a BIOS one. Since the RD600 has been in dev for something like two years, I am not surprised it lacks a 400 strap. Changing from 333 to auto doesn't change a thing so I just leave it at auto for the hell of it. Next project is my RAM, I want to find the max it can handle.

What is the bandwidth you get under SiSandra or MemTest86? Mine seems a bit funky, I am wondering if it is because the mem is asynchronous. Is there a memtest like app that runs inside windows? I hate using memtest....

I need to memtest my memory seeing as I can clock it independently. I actually had my system start randomly crashing with video errors for a solid day, but after some problem solving I traced it to the fact I enabled power on by keyboard in the BIOS and adjusted the +5VSB accordingly and it didn't like that. Yes that was a run on sentence lol.

Memory is a funny thing, I'm not sure what its deal is. It has more moods than my RD600 lol.

Yeah that vdroop is a b!tch. Mine isn't too bad, but my original board (the one that died) was amazing. vdroop of nearly 0, only .001v. My current one is OK w a vdroop of about .02v.

Now if DFI could just get the boards out....

I am waiting to see what they do with the new chipsets due in Q3. Sounds like Christmas this year is going to be amazing.

ok here is my little confusion....why can I run stress test and video game for 8 hours straight and then have problems the next day? Ok so i will be playing and I can keep going and going and going with temps in the 50c range without a problem and I can restart comp, turn it off, stand by, everything. But when I turn it on the next day it turns on then restarts and my settings are back to normal...wtf?

Anywho I did everything this guide told me to do http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=27&t=1&p=0
and still the problems continues...I have tried 2.4ghz oc, 2.7ghz oc and now 3.0ghz oc and on the 3.0 I am going to try and see if it works I put voltage on auto...odds are same thing will happen tomorrow morning...my fsb control will be disabled and I will have to renable it and bam I can use my oc for the whole bloody day...until next morning... Also is 65C max load ok for 3.0ghz oc or is that too hot, what is the max temp I should go according to core temp .94

Ok my proccessor and ram is an e4300 core 2 duo, CORSAIR XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory, gigabyte ds3 mobo rev 3.3 (has the 1333fsb thingy) with f10 mobo bios.

Help anyone? Voltage help for 2.7ghz and 3.0? Any ideas why In morning it does that weird restart thing but after I enable my fsb control again it works fine?

voltage for 3.0 should be no higher than 1.325 try with that, n test n lower if u can... then use coretemp 0.95, the 94 gives u false readings, and listen as long as you are in the low 70's ur fine, its better to be in the low 60's, but being in the low 70 its okay.

I've heard of this from someone else, but I forget what happened. Whatever is going on is strange. I wonder if it is a weak CMOS battery... I don't think so ,but I wouldn't totally discount the possibility.

I am thinking.... I am not sure. I am perplexed.

Hmm .95 detects the E4300 as a Conroe-2M not an Allendale like on v.94. v.95 detects Tj max as 100c which inflates your temps by 15c and v.94 detects Tj Max as 85c which is the spec for desktop C2D's. There is some debate about whether Intel has manufactured certain processors for the desktop with a Tj max of 100c, but it is theory at this point.

1.325 for 3GHz is possibly a bit low. On stock voltage you can generally get 2.8-3.0, just depends on the chip. It is always easier to start a step or two above expected and work your way down.

70's is nearly Tj max and closing in on throttle territory. 60's are pretty warm for the proc but it can handle it.

OH and we are still waiting for confirmation and screen shots proving that your E4300 is indeed stable at 3.6GHz and is not just a dump and run.

HAHA lol dump n run :)... I WILL SHOW U BUT LATER :)

also im runnin my e4300 at 3.0 right now with 1.290 vcore and stable...and listen man, its been said a lot... about the .95 and the .94, i still believe that 95 says the truth, i think the tjuc is 100c, and the reason they run a lil hotter, is cos allendales cores arent soldered to the IHS, like the conroe cores 😱
