Hello,

Some time ago I've received this headset (MSI GH70) as a gift and yes I know its bad but I didn't really care that much because I was using it only when in the delegation.

Ok, straight to the point.
The headset is no longer under warranty and it's kinda broken right now - I think its potentiometer that's broken because sometimes right earphone doesn't work at all but when I press the potentiometer a bit to the upper left then everything works just fine.

I've tried cleaning it with "Kontakt" cleaner and also with normal isopropanol (same thing lol) but it didn't help at all.
I would like to replace the potentiometer but I don't know what model or what resistance does it have.

And here's my question - does anyone know what potentiometer is used in this headset?

I've attached a few photos as a reference:

Best regards

Good photos....

Likely that the potentiometer developed a dead spot especially if the volume was fixed in one place for a long time.

You will need a multimeter to measure resistance across various combinations of the 6 "legs" while varying the resistance.

VR1 = Variable Resistor 1. Schematic needed. Likely none beyond initial design and assembly.

PCB & components simply made not to be repairable.

Even though you may be able to match the ohms range/values the physical size becomes an issue. Current component may be from just one manufacturing run.

Maybe you can find another set of broken (for some other reason) GH70's and cannibalize the potentiometer. Family, friends....?

Do you have soldering skills? Even if you...

Do you have soldering skills? Even if you do, it is unlikely the replacing the potentiometer will be viable.

Very much in favor of DIY repairs etc..

However, there is a point where the chance of successful repair becomes quite unlikely.

Put the time, energy, and money into getting a pair of headsets that you really want.
