If my system runs on 300-400 w, can I get a 600w? or will it harm the components

No harm at all. The rating is what the PSU CAN do if required. But it will actually provide only the power your system NEEDS at any one time, up to that max limit. If your system needs less, that's what it gets. A PSU cannot force power into a system.
