Hi!
Here's a good one. I have a Acer TravelMate 4000 laptop. Whatever I plug in one of the three USB ports isn't detected. I can hear some noise inside the laptop so something must be happening but nothing that tells me something was detected on a port, not even a message telling me my USB ports are broken.
Everything looks fine in the device manager. I tried reinstalling the USB drivers but it does the same. I tried plugging different USB stuff like an mp3 player, a mouse, a CF card reader to all the different ports but it's still no go.
I even tried booting up using Ubuntu Linux 6.06 to see if it would detect something like a mouse but it didn't do so. Note here that it was working fine on another computer (a PC actually). The three USB ports were listed in /proc/bus/usb/devices but the mouse wasn't listed and wasn't even lighting up.
What else should I try? Apparently it's possible to fix that, so there's gonna be a way somehow to do it, whether it being software or hardware.
Thank you
